Yet another attempt to eliminate the Big XII
With this plan the ACC takes 6 and goes to 20 and the SEC takes 2.

ACC
East

West Virginia
Louisville
Pittsburgh
Syracuse
Boston College

South East
North Carolina
Duke
Virginia Tech
NC State
Virginia

Sourth
Clemson
Florida State
Miami
Georgia Tech
Wake Forest

West
TCU
Texas
Texas Tech
Iowa State / Baylor / Kansas State (Texas picks)
Kansas

Division Play:
Rotate divisions yearly. Play round robin. Winner of each division goes to championship.
Year 1: East and South East D1. South and West D2.
Year 2: East and South. South East and West
Year 3: East and West. South and South East.
Year 4: Start over flip home and aways.

Advantages:
No repeat games for championship
Play every team in conference every 3 years
Better regional rivalries

SEC
East
Georgia
Florida
South Carolina
Vanderbilt
Alabama
Auburn
Kentucky
Tennessee

West
LSU
Mississippi State
Mississippi
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Missouri

Schedule: 7+2 or 7+1+1

Crossover games:
South Carolina / Clemson
Florida / FSU
Georgia / Georgia Tech
Kentucky / Louisville
Oklahoma / Texas
Missouri / Kansas
Texas A&M / TCU ? (A&M Plays in Dallas every other year)
Oklahoma State / Texas Tech ? (Oklahoma State gets more Texas exposure)
Others ???

RE: Yet another attempt to eliminate the Big XII
I don't foresee the ACC doing anything that would make it more difficult to eventually bring ND in as a full member. If Texas wants to come in as a full member then I suspect the ACC would probably take Texas Tech if it was part of the political considerations but stop at 16, assuming that the rule requiring round robin division play for a CCG stays in place. I could also see Texas going the ND route and becoming a non-football member and bringing both TCU and Texas Tech along as full members to create travel partners for Olympic sports, saving the opportunity to go to 18 if/when they could get ND and UT to join in full

Good points.

Personally I have given up on ND joining. Especially now that the GOR goes out to 2036.

This was more of an attempt to come up with a new "take 8" scenario to disband the Big XII.

I actually like some aspects. I think it improves the overall value of the additions. It creates some interesting new matchups. It creates new ACC/SEC crossovers. And even with 20 the schools in the ACC, everyone plays everyone more often while still preserving most regional and historic rivalries.

I am not putting off on the idea of a super conference of 24 teams. Big 10 are not done yet, and they have eyes on the ACC schools.

The one major problem with these scenarios is who would want to play in the ACC South? You have one beast of a division and the rest are mediocre.

Hence the clever typo of "Sourth". Teams say they don't want to be in the ACC South, you can still put them in there with the Sourth loophole.

Eyes, perhaps. But, the Big Ten has no ability to obtain any ACC school until close to 2036, David.

The GOR to 2036 and the exit fee make it extremely unlikely, at best (to be generous).

(1) put Miami in the East division with their former Big East brethren; (2) move Louisville from the East into a Central into a division with VT, UVA, Duke and UNC; (3) reunite State with Wake (to have an even division of the NC schools) as well as with Clemson (to preserve the Textile Bowl rivalry), and keep FSU and GT in that division; and (4) keep the West as it is proposed.

RE: Yet another attempt to eliminate the Big XII
Two questions.

Why are we trying to eliminate the Big XII?

Why are we suggesting four division conferences, when NCAA rules only allow a single conference playoff game?
