Anthony Maddie
Let's take a moment to appreciate the craziness of Anthony Maddie's career.
  • Starts at WMU, transfers to NIU (transferring in conference is rare)
  • Sits a season.
  • Comes out as #2 in the QB three-way-competition. Quickly becomes number one. Then loses out to Hare
  • Spends 2015 recovering from surgery
  • Starts 2016 as a wide-receiver now starting QB?

And has his contract extended for three years by January - 'cuz, you know, he deserves it.

Not sure it meant he was the clear #1, but didn't he start the Northwestern game?

RE: Anthony Maddie
It seemed like Maddie did okay in the game against Northwestern before being replaced by Hare. So I was a little surprised that Maddie wasn't closer in the competition for the #2 spot, if not #1.

Maddie usually takes more chances which results in turnovers. I hope he controls the ball better.

True, though Graham also ended up with turnovers.

It was silly. What coach comes out of training camp without a starter named? They had three inexperienced quarterbacks - one of them needed to get all the reps with the first team in practice.

If memory serves, even though Hare eventually claimed the top spot, partially because Mac was injured, didn't they keep running Maddie out for a random series here and there which disrupted the entire flow of the offense when it occurred?

DD did the same thing with Jordan Lynch when Harnish was the starter.

those were more blow out situations for Lynch to get reps. Trotting Maddie out was a wildcard, WTF sort of thing. 3 and long? heeeeree comes Maddie who hasn't thrown a pass all game, oooh QB sneak. and punt.

No, many of those reps Lynch got were when the game was still close.

Kill put JL in during the MACC vs Miami when we were on our 2 or 3 yard line.

He also had him throw a long bomb to Napalm, but the pass was crap. Still pissed we lost that game.
