MT vs The Meanie Greenies Game Thread
UNT fans are feeling confident after their big win over Rice. However, I don't think they will be able to keep it within three touchdowns.

I'm worried about this one - we've just not looked good at all on the road with all of the mistakes and paper mache defense. If I'm UNT I run it down our throats.

I'm not as worried. We haven't played the best on the road but that has to change at least once and UNT is a good place for us to play a complete and dominant game.

I have heard your new coach cleaned house.

Whatever happened to Canales ? Always liked that guy.

It's the combination of playing 3 out of 4 halves on the road like complete garbage, the next game being WKU at home on homecoming, and riding high after the comeback over La Tech that makes me nervous about our heads being in the right place.

I don't think MTSU will have any problem with UNT.

I do not believe history will have any play in this contest. The Blue Raiders are clearly the better team, and this will be one of those games where the better team takes it to the worse team -- big-time. That's just how I see it, and UNT fans, I will come back here and apologize profusely if the Mean Green wins or even keeps it close.

We could have said the same thing in 2001 and 2010. And then there is the last two visits to Apogee Stadium where we've lost by a combined margin of 93-14. I don't think we've won there. We haven't won in Denton since 2009.

Canales is the QB coach @ Utah State now I think.

I think MT wins this one, but not running away.

I doubt we get anywhere close to 6 wins this season but I firmly believe with all of the changes made we won't be down for long. I believe we'll be in the bowl conversation next season.

Put me in the MT worried camp...I hope we prepare for a Texas slug fest bar fight, because we've left Denton in a bad way a few times.

Our history vs. MTSU in Denton is the reason I think this will be a competitive game. Even when we had a historically bad team in 2009, we made a run at the blue guys.

To be completely fair and to close the circle, no NT fan can ever feel good about a trip to Murfreesboro.

Based on the MTSU injury reports I've seen here, and the relative lack of injuries for the Mean Green, in addition to the history already chronicled,I'm looking forward to Saturday. With all of that said, I predict something like 42-24 MTSU for the win.

Hope to see some of y'all out there. How many fans do you think y'all will be bringing?

NT is still not very good, but any team expecting the NT of the last two years should be in for a surprise. The NT-MTSU series is one that historically, records don't mean much. I look for the usual hard fought game and think it will be close.

All I can say is ... IF we look like we did in the second half against La Tech it won't be close. I have my fingers crossed that we do - and this is a game we should win - but as has been said anything is possible especially given our poor play in Denton. I think it changes this year though. Our offense seems to be getting itself together and CTF has more faith in Mathers. Hoping for an injury-free game ... and rest of the year ...

RE: MT vs The Meanie Greenies Game Thread
The thing about UNT is that we're so young with 50+ new players on the roster and new schemes on offense and defense. Each week we've look a little better (except for the offense against Florida). If we can keep getting better then you may see the best UNT has to offer so far this season.

In our first game against SMU, our defense wasn't pushed around but gave up a lot of big plays due in large part to blown coverages and missed tackles. Each week we've seen that improve. We would not have fallen behind by 17 if our defense had not jumped off sides five times on third down in those first few series.

Offensively, we turned to a true freshman at quarterback for week two and he's shown leadership while slowly improving his numbers (except for Florida). Against Rice we started very slow with penalties and dropped passes but later on started hitting big plays to get going. We did not have any really long sustained drives so that needs to improve.

If our defense can cut out our own mistakes ... if our offense can take another step forward ... then I see no reason why we can't give you a game and win. On the other hand, you could blow us out if we revert to blowing coverages and missing tackles. One thing I do believe is this team won't quit like last year's squad did once McCarney lost the team.
