OT:Closing of Myles
Thanks Chip!!! Hate to hear that you're closing. Having staggered down Wooster more than once in my life, you were a beacon in the night.
Truly a MAC institution. Almost 40 years. Again thank you!!!

RE: OT:Closing of Myles
First the Corner Grill catches on fire and closes (and has yet to re-open)

Then Jed's goes out business.

AND now Myle's is closing!!!!

You'd think I was a wide receiver on the football team. I can't catch a break.

At first I thought you were referring to Les Myles (sic).

I can't believe he is keeping the recipe in his family.

Judging by the discussion it sounds a classic restaurant somewhere in NW Ohio is closing, is that assumption correct? If so, my condolences.

The DQ is still in BG, but is no longer a renegade. When he sold that place, the first owner was under the impression he could maintain everything as it was. And he was wrong. Corporate said he had to bring the place up to current standards and he sold out (in less than a year).

New owner and no longer 1000 different flavor of blizzards.

I hardly ever went into the DQ, so I'm not sure what all changes have been made, but my office staff does not go to DQ nearly as much anymore.

He's filthy rich. Doesn't need the money.

ALSO - he has a wayward daughter, so there is always the chance he is keeping the recipe so she can come back to town and start her own version of Myle's.

I'm thinking a new Myle's Pizza is going to open early next year - in Hilton Head, SC.

That's crushing. He not only had Blizzard flavors you couldn't get anyplace else, he had like 9 different flavors for dipped cones, 7 different sizes of cone, which I never saw anyone order larger than the 3rd size up from small because it was enormous, his own fries which he was very generous piling on. Just a great place. Non-BG folk, this one dude owned at one time like five businesses all in an area of town, great to take my nieces and nephews to after a game (so vaguely MAC-related).

The businesses that are near campus that students and locals frequent, really contribute to the college experience. College towns like Athens, BG, and Oxford wouldn't be the same without these kinds of places.

Well said, Boca, and though I've been away many years, these were places I'd recommend to any out-of-town fans. I suppose if you live long enough, you see all the things you knew at your college change and fade away. I did my undergrad in Athens, Ga., and if I ever made it back there, who knows what little I'd recognize.

It can be, if you want it to be.
