Wrong--he stinks and when NIU is playing poorly he should say so. Oops I forgot he never says NIU it is always Northern Illinois. I thought posters here wanted us to be branded NIU. I guess he didn't get the memo.

Your standard is pretty low. If you've ever had the radio and any kind of TV or streaming on at the same time, you realize how poor is his play descriptions are, how often he's off on yard lines, and how often he mis-identifies either the penalty or who it was on. Tune in at the wrong time and you'll wait and wait to find out the actual score with comments like "the margin remains five" or "the difference is a field goal," that's no help when you weren't able to listen for a four to seven-minute span. In fairness to him, pretty certain he's not making that much despite doing it for a long time; he deserves credit for that, but longevity doesn't equate to quality.

I don't think you understand the difference between an announcer and a reporter/journalist. Bill is paid to represent the university. Do you think announcers are going to openly rip a coach whether it's in the middle of a game or at a marketing/media event? They may question some decisions but their job is to relay information and market the team.

RE: Radio Show
For dedication, excitement, longevity I'll give him a pass in what he lacks in shortcomings as a play by play guy. I think everyone else should.

Or do we deserve more, like Vin Scully? I say Scully as I think he is the only one people on here could agree on is the best, or perhaps has the least amount of shortcomings/ haters. Or maybe Pat Foley is better?

BTW, download TuneIn Radio and listen to some of the other college football broadcasts around the country on a Saturday afternoon. I have listened to few. Some may be better but I'll take him over most, especially seeing what he has seen here.

I like Bill. Always have. Yes, he can be frustrating in not giving the score or yard marker as often as he should, but his style and presentation are extremely professional, has a great voice, and I can't imagine listening to NIU sports without Bill at the mike. He also sometimes dons a suit coat and does the ESPN computercasts of the women's BB games, and he does a terrific job. He works very hard at his craft, and I think we're very fortunate to have Bill as the voice of the Huskies.

wrong--their job is to present the game and team accurately. So what is Baker an announcer or a reporter. He is a shill.

My sentiments exactly.
