Who can you lure into that job? A commuter school, that plays in an oversize dome, with an apathetic fan base that plays in the Sunbelt?
Do some research

What did he say that was not accurate?

They are moving to a renovated Tuner field soon, maybe not as much of a commuter school as they have been? IDK beyond that. I think Georgia State can grow into a solid program, I think this hire will be critical for that to happen.

Turner field isn't going to change the apathetic fan base. And right now they DO play in an oversized empty dome...in front of like 2500 fans a game. (And you can't give me that 13000 number. It's bs and everyone knows it)

GA State does have one thing going for it----->population....and only 2 bigtime ESTABLISHED programs in Georgia.. Po' states with small populations like Miss'sippi and West Virginia can barely keep their families fed (Beverly Hillbillies reference), and you can only get so much blood out of a turnip.

Speakin' of bleedin', OP and MSUcks are like Space Vampires, suckin' all the blood out of the state and creating SEC Zombies that a bullet to the head will never kill. Have a bad season? Just infuse yourself at the SEC Emergency Room courtesy of the Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Florida Urgent Care!04-cheers

USM gets a slap on the back and a moon pie and RC co-cola from C-USA..

Nobody is giving you any number nor does anyone care about your opinion. Nobody is showing up to another game until they are convinced that definitive change has occured and they are winning. Nobody in Atlanta shows up for losing teams. Win and they will show up. Example: Sports Arena was 1/2 full on a Friday night last week for an NAIA opponent. The Ted isn't changing that on its own but it's a hell of a carrot for a new coach. Cobb also said know radio he is looking at SEC and ACC assistants. Let's see what happens. This is Cobb's signature hire as he did not hire Miles.

I'm not quite sure how Charlie Strong still has a job today. I know it'll happen eventually, but losing to Kansas?

Just don't think Charlie is built to be a P5 head coach, He is not gonna get another do-over at Texas, I think they have had enough and afraid Charlie has also. Charlie wants this season to be over and done, think he needs to seriously consider stepping down and going to another program maybe as a coordinator or just take a year off and start climbing back into coaching at that point, hit the reset button in other words and hope everything starts over with a clean slate.07-coffee3

I think he's got about ten million reasons not to do that. Wait on the ax cause that's a nest egg I would not walk away from.

Yea, that seems to be the way coaches look at things now, I always wonder why some coaches do not look back and reflect and sometimes say, you know, this is all my fault and it is time to move on. Sometimes they deserve the remaining money and sometimes not, just wish some of them would take responsibility and make a deal for maybe another years salary or a percentage of and move on and do what is best for all parties.
That ain't going to happen though, money seems to change a lot of peoples moral compass and values.

Yeah but could you solely point to Strong as at total fault for what has went wrong for Texas. He deserves the blame and criticism he gets but it's not solely on him.

No, I could not, there are almost always other factors and sometimes a HC just wants to make excuses. Some of these coaches cannot look back on their tenure at a program and objectively see where most of the fault may lye. There are factors within and out of the HC's control, they need to have the wisdom and objectivity to see that and so does the AD

Any rumblings from C-USA programs? Figure Kugler, Bailiff and Partridge are the three potential targets.

Rumor is, Texas will replace Charlie Strong with Art Briles. That changes everything for Texas.

What about Hopson at USM? Are they going to give him 4 years?
Holliday is probably safe for now, but I expect to see staff coaching changes at Marshall, specifically at at OC.

I'm hoping Kugler saved Bailiff's and Partridge's jobs.

Those are two really disappointing programs, not sure the disappointment among the fan base will generate some open pocketbooks so they make changes though. That is the problem with many of our programs in this league, we cannot pay enough to keep the P5's from raiding us, yet we pay so much we cannot always afford to get out of a contract and hire another coach.
I hope to see both of these programs make some changes and get back on track and help lift the conference back to a very respectable position.03-hissyfit
