Turner gone! Is your coach on hot seat?
Hopson is a 1st year coach and appears headed toward a winning record and bowl game, so he is safe. For now.

RE: Turner gone! Is your coach on hot seat?
Doc isn't yet, but this season is starting to expose him as a fraud. If you look at his raw records he looks like a great coach, but when you dig a little deeper you find that he has benefitted from weak schedules and is under .500 against teams with a winning record. He suppos d to be this great recruiter, but I don't see the talent at som key positions. Worst of all he coaches not to lose... we punted from Louisvilles 35 down 14 when we are 31 point dogs. If that doesn't show that you have no intention of trying to win the game I don't know what does.

The coach that needs fired is Bill Legg, he has been a terrible coach since he got here. The most unagressive vanilla OC you will find at the college level. Local highschools run more complicated offenses than him. Everyone wanted him fired, then that crowd got quieted by a few good offensive seasons thanks to Cato. Now that Cato isn't there to run the offense we are back to half the crowd being able to predict his playcalling...

No but he should be. We are pathetic and even worse than last year despite having almost all the same guys back and a better QB situation.

I think our coach's hot seat is about to turn into an ejection seat.

Have not heard anything out of the EP media to think Kugler is actually on the hot seat but it has to be getting warm. 4th season should tell all you need to know about the direction of a program and so far this year it is downward. If things turn around and the season ends with 6-6 or better, he will still be around next year. If not, I predict he will be gone.

RE: Turner gone! Is your coach on hot seat?
Charlie Partridge's seat should be starting to get warm. He came to FAU after our first season at C-USA, when we went 6-6, were bowl-eligible (but not picked to a bowl). What followed was two 3-9 seasons, with the same symptoms: defense keeps us in all games and offense crumbles with leads.

This season we were supposed to have the best team (and a young team, mind you) since 2008. But 3-9 looks like the record we will have at the end of this season (fine, to be a stickler, it may be 5-7, but there is no difference).

So, to recap, third season, 7-21, .250 winning percentage, lack of killer instinct, consistent inability to close out games with a two-score lead... Something needs to change and the talent on this team indicates it is not the players.

Garcia should be fired. He had a damn good coach there at FIU in Mario Cristobal.

Bobby Wilder's seat is cold. If we don't make a bowl game this season, it'll be on pre-heat.

I figure Bobby has two more seasons to get things moving well again. Problem is, we've over scheduled the next several season with the anticipation that Bentley would be an awesome QB.

Bobby is not in any trouble right now, but I don't think we have a clue who our QB will be next year -- and that cannot be a good thing, because we have been aiming at 2017 with the thought that Bentley would be on a roll. I would not be surprised if we found one of those fifth year grad transfer P-5 QBs, because everything else should be in place. Time will tell.

I'm willing to start the fire underneath our coach's seat. I don't hold my hope for any type of 500 season now the way we've been playing. Someone please go look for some kindling.

Agreed on the time frame and the difficult road next year. But we ended up with that schedule because we needed to get VT locked up long-term no matter how it meshed with our schedule. Don't think it had anything to do with Bentley.

Yeah, but we play at UMASS. at VT and have UNC at home next season. In 2018 we play VT, UVA and ECU. 2019 we play VT, Buffalo and ECU and in 2020 we play Wake, UNC and UVA. (3 ACC teams!) We may only win 1 OOC game a year for the next four seasons.

I haven't seen an ODU game yet in 2016, but my obersvation of you guys last year is you had nothing resembling an FBS offensive line, and I didn't see anything that would lead me to think you o-line deficiency would be solved anytime soon. Is the o-line in any better position this year? Without a massive o-line overhaul from last year, I don't see ODU as a legit threat.

RE: Turner gone! Is your coach on hot seat?
Pretty legit observation. Yes, the O line does appear to be improved this year and equally as important we have a much more mobile QB with a slightly revamped offensive scheme designed to hide the O lines weaknesses and maximize the QB's strengths. Important points are the O line is improved from last year and appears to be continuing to improve as this season progresses. The D has become down right respectable. Bottom line: slow but steady progress. Are we a title contender this year? not hardly. But with a few breaks we could be in a bowl. Fully expecting progress to continue as we develop a complete 5 year FBS talent roster.

Doc's not on the hot seat, but I'm convinced that we've seen his ceiling. He is what he is and will do okay as long as he finds a Cato and Shuler here and there.
