The good news is that we are selling more tickets. The bad news is that we are still having a hard time getting them inside the stadium. A lot of people watched the end of the UT/Florida game. By that time we were already down 20-7 so even the people outside watching at the tailgates just stayed there. It's frustrating. The Greenland lot was full which is usually a good sign and the Grove was hopping. Now to motivate them to leave their tailgates.

The good news is for the WKU game it's Alabama vs UT which will HOPEFULLY be an evening game. So 1:30 kick won't be affected as badly.

RE: Week 4 Attendance
Well by having a 38k stadium we raked in $2 Million for Saturday's game. So people can talk about percent of capacity etc all they want but percent capacity doesn't translate to dollars. And that's really what it's about.

When we only have 60% of our stadium filled, as WKUYG puts it, at our prices, we still make bank over pretty much everyone else. The extra capacity just gives us the ability to have a windfall here and there. And 2/3 full does not look bad on TV. It still gives some meat to the crowd when they scan over it.

So manipulate the numbers all you want to feel good about yourselves. But the translation to $$ is the only thing that matters, no matter how you count attendance.

I'm thinking it will be the SEC on CBS game of the week. If so, that's a 2:30 CT kick.

You really doing to start this crap back up? I guess I'm the fool to take your bait...1 out of probably every 10 games Marshall needs 30+k

The other 90% that stadium is 40% empty.

Was just asking.

I think the atmosphere we had on Saturday is well worth having some empty seats the other 5 games of the season.

Didn't know if our recent game changed your mind. The stadium looked big time, and it was awesome with the stripes.

Did not get to see it. I have a 70 mile drive from the parkway in BG to my home. I did get to listen to the 2nd and 3rd quarters on the drive and before that while my son was picking up pizza and bread sticks to eat on the way home. We usually stop and eat before heading home...

choking takes most of the pleasure away from anything for 24 hrs and kills it for watching more football.

We all need the sweet point in seats vs attendance...

some have large stadiums and it looks awful on TV with 3k in the stands

Some have small stadiums and it looks great on TV (ODU/UNCC) packed for each game

Some have medium to small and it looks great when it's full

Some have medium up to large and it looks great when full

But other than the two schools I pointed out ...we all have problem most of the time filling the stadium to a point where it looks bigtime on TV. No matter what size.

RE: Week 4 Attendance
I haven't read all 7 pages, so maybe someone has done this. What is the attendance as a % of stadium capacity?

A 35K stadium at 90% capacity looks better to me on TV than a 50K one that is just over half full.

Thanks. WKU plays Houston Baptist next week coming off the Vandy loss, so our number (unfortunately) will likely come down after that game.

I personally think Western under counts a lot of times (for different reasons) and the CUSA championship game was one of those. Closer to 20k than the 16k listed. But you also have spread in pictures and when we look at the stadium while there. Easy to take up a extra half seat if not one is right beside you. Which can fool the eye into believing there are more butts.

In the end it's all about the money made. Not the butts. But even that is to a certain point...20k listed vs 3k in the stands.

Western flubs just like everyone else. No, you do not underreport. No.

We don't all pull a Memphis who actually put out a boxscore with 4,100 on it one day only to change it to 31k the next day, but everyone does it, and no Western is not different.

Actually, not everyone. For example, Charlotte and ODU both have 99% full stadiums for most games. You really can't fudge MUCH when that is the case. Its easy to see (ie; full or not). Schools with larger stadiums can much more easily fudge the numbers. If your stadium holds 35,000 and you have 15,000 actually there, it is much easier to claim 21,000 for example.

I expect attendance to be really bad for our next game, the only thing that might save us being a late evening game and it's going to be much cooler. That Vandy game was brutal for the diehard fans much less the casual fan with how HOT!!! It was

I thought you guys did a great job with the crowd. My wife ( a casual fan) thought all the white sections was Louisville fans because there was some red scattered in with the white. She said wow there is a lot of Louisville fans there, I then told here that Marshall was stripping the stadium Green/White

RE: Week 4 Attendance
One of my more memorable memories of attendance numbers is/was UAB baseball several years back. From what I remember every game's attendance ended in either 5 or 0 so attendance would be 250, 270, 265, 235, and etc. Granted it's got to end in a number but it was like they rounded up (or down) so final attendance ended up either a 0 or 5.

We report tickets sold, not saying otherwise. This past game was the 50th sellout in a row. Were all those games 100% capacity? No, not at all. But the tickets were sold. Most in season ticket packages.

2 million? Don't think so. It's debatable. By having plenty of inventory, why would people worry about getting season tickets and thus making big contributions?

Yes it was $2 million, it was announced. Our chairback seats which were sold out went for $100 per seat. Everything along the sides was $40 a ticket and general admission (endzone) was $30. Even if all the seats were $40 that's $1.6 million.

People buy season tickets to get the same seats and contribute to the University. Has nothing to do with inventory and demand. It's the way most donate.

You got a link? Those are single game ticket prices. Doesn't take into account student tickets, season tickets, etc. Seems high to me.

Are you really going to argue supply/demand doesn't come into play?
