I would actually LOVE for this to be an actual conference.

Didn't say it could work. We all know everything is bigger in Texas including the egos.

Actually it doesn't work for the opposite reason.
It'd be pretty darn popular in Texas. Just not with any of the other 270 million US residents. Which is (part of) why the first one failed

Once again, I know it wouldn't actually work. Also the egos of UT, A&M and the other bigger boys wouldn't lower themselves to be in a conference with UNT, UTSA and TSU.

Didn't Rutgers abandon teams like Memphis and Cincinatti so it could be with similar sized flagship/land grant schools?
Its not like your fans are pining to be in a conference with Temple and Uconn just because they're an easy drive.

Jesus christ dude, I just thought it would be a neat idea to actually see a Texas 12. Way to hijack a thread.

Sure, and I was merely offering the counter view that such an arrangement would not be beneficial for schools like A&M and UT anymore than Ohio State and Michigan joining a regional league full of Ohio and Michigan MAC teams would be for them.
You know besides to cheap bus fares

I think North Texas and UTSA are up there in tier 2 academics. The academics are fine, but the athletics are not up to par yet. UTSA does show some promise in both football and men's basketball. They fill the Alamo Dome when they play P5 schools better than some other schools in the conference.

I'd say it worked perfectly fine until college sports' priorities shifted.
