His eternal optimism coupled with his Satterfield turnaround comparison was too much.

I get it.. this is his thing. Its time for folks(media/personalities) to call a spade a spade when it comes to Tyson.
Well he did realize that they are still in the four game window when it comes to A-State.

It takes their team four games to get the basics you would expect a HS team to have mastered by the second game down pat, and that is with them focusing on their team and not the other team.

Will be some good players on display Wednesday, but some of the worse coaches in all of college football (any level of college football).

Agreed we all knew 2017 would be a chore, but Tyson built up zero equity from running the 2016 team into the ground. I'm okay with struggling this year if we had done what those seniors were capable of. I believe all of this comes down to terrible coaching and zero leadership from Tyson. Seriously... who would want to be lead into battle with that guy?

Yeah last year sucked big time. I think with this coaching staff last year we are a 7-8 win team at least. Because we would have had senior leadership and a QB that knew the option like the back of his hand from day 1. Summers wasted that luxury last season by hiring (whether they were his 4th choice or not) a staff that could not utilize that senior talent and had a terrible offensive scheme. This year that senior leadership is gone and you are asking a bunch of juniors, sophomores, and freshman to lead the team (offensively and defensively).

I've always thought by mid season this year we would be pretty good. The problem is it's Oct and we have only played 3 games. 2 of them against teams that will finish ranked in the AP poll and one against a ranked FCS team all the while trying to learn a new system.

Time is not on Summers side (because of that debacle last season) but IF these guys can keep improving (they are) we will be a tough opponent the 2nd half of the season.

Edit: And to be fair - I'm probably in the "if we get embarrassed tomorrow" boat then it's time to let him go.

We're going to have to earn our loss if we want it, and I have a strong feeling we will.

I actually listened for about 90 seconds before shutting it down. I don't know or care what he says anyway. I expect to see a good game tomorrow night but I think stAte wins by 10 or so and covers the spread. Anderson better hope so. His seat is not hot in Jonesboro but he still needs a good year.

I have seen improvement but the pace of that improvement is not up to my expectations. I hope we get it together but I'm not looking for it. Should we give stAte a good game I will probably be more optimistic that we can have a good second half of the season. If it goes the way I think it will then it's going to be a wasted season indeed.

I agree with that 100%. The defense is definitely concerning. The offense IMO was hampered big time by the penalties and turnovers otherwise I think we score 24-30 points against Indiana and the "improvements" look more significant.

Monken's offense in 2010 only had 5 games all year with a higher offensive output (as far as yards per play) than what we had against Indiana. 13 penalties and 3 turnovers is going to kill your ability to put points on the board no matter how well your offense is moving.

The Satterfield comparison falls short as App had certain rotting parts prior to 2013 that finally were visible that season. It took 18 games, but Satterfield built up the program for long-term success, especially after he made the change in S&C in spring 2014.

Summers took over a program that was like an old school Buick and crashed it. Now he's trying to drive the road with a sputtering Hatchback.

That's how many of us feel about a few positions groups we have this season. Mostly due to attrition (graduation, grades, legal issues) and spotty recruiting. There is no excuse for last season though.
