That would be so dumb. Get a young, energetic offensive coordinator to excite fans. If he has no defense, at least he'll out score people. And when he finds a defense, we went 12-2.

As much as I hope he's still a coordinator whenever we're looking for our next coach so that we can at least consider him, if I'm FIU my first call is to Manny Diaz.

Well, it was time but it's a terrible day in south Florida right now. Ron Cooper is the interim HC.

Manny Diaz is Miami's DC ... not willingly leaving that spot for FIU (even as HC that is a major downgrade in caliber and pay) and probably not for any other school unless P5 comes calling for an HC. There has to be someone that FIU can get, though.

Nope was intentional. Was referring to how Fedora's career at USM went.

I'm very aware of where Manny is and I think your view may be a little biased.

Do you know Manny personally? How do you know he wouldn't take that job? And what makes you think the Miami DC job is so good that he'd only leave for a P5 HC job? As Miami is private we may not be able to determine what he's being paid as DC(I only searched briefly), I expect it's more than the $600k they were paying Ron Turner, but I don't expect it's dramatically more than that. If FIU wanted Diaz I expect they could make an offer competitive with what he's making as DC at the U.

And even if FIU couldn't offer him enough, there are plenty of G5 schools that could. I love Manny, I did get to know both him and his wife and I know they really enjoyed their time in Murfreesboro. I'd be very happy for him if hevgot a P5 HC gig, but if he was going to springboard to P5 HC, his time do so was at Texas. Unless Miami rips off at least a few ACC championships while he's there, I expect his first HC job to be at a G5 school.

Diaz was Texas' DC, considered a top coordinator, and then Texas implodes, as does his reputation. 2 years ago he was DC at La Tech, did a good job, , now he's getting his rep back. He may want to cash in. If he thinks he can win at FIU, it would be a good move.

Diaz probably only leaves for a major P5, He's from Miami and his Dad was the former Mayor. He's in a good spot and I think Richt will have Miami competing for a playoff spot maybe next year.

Depends on how badly he wants to be a HC. Further I'll believe Richt can win the big one when I see it. Richt is a great coach and a better man, but Georgia finally moved on because he just couldn't get over the hump, I don't expect him to do so at Miami, especially so soon. He'll win a ton of games though.

For whatever reason, President Rosenberg let Garcia decide when he will leave FIU. Even though his contract was up this year he got a 2 year deal but says he will leave at the end of the contract period.

Upside, RT is out. Downside, Garcia now gets to pick the next coach 03-banghead

And there is very recent precedent for an ACC coordinator to take on a CUSA HC position.

Not being funny but shouldn't he stay out of this so to speak. Otherwise wouldn't the new guy eventually want to put his own kinda guy in place.

This may be the most predictable outcome of any hiring in recent memory.

Garcia and the former UNT AD are peas in a pod.
