It's amazing that they cannot teach him how to block.

Yeah, I'm a big Boone fan. However, even when he's in the right place he leave his feet and give a shove while in mid air. Not a very effective way to block. Not the way I was taught to block when I was a RB in 8th grade. Supposedly he squats 600lb or something like that. If he could get his base right, he should be able to hold his own.

Our qb's are Moore and Trail....thats it. Kiel is there proly if they both go down and thats it.

The real discussion is Moore v Trail....who do you want and why.

Personally I like Trail. He is better in the pocket, less shaky and keeps us in rhythm better than Moore IMHO .

How do we know what Trail can do? His one start was against Miami. 0-4 Miami, or is it 3-117 Miami. Miami is not a good football team. USF is no Miami. Miami has 2-Star DB's and LB's. USF has speed all over the place and 4-Star skill position players and better coaches and the rest. Some of the balls that Trail threw last Saturday will become INT's and possibly pick six's against USF. Go back and watch some of his throws into traffic against Miami, particularly his dump passes when he was under pressure. And Trail is not going to run for large chunks of yardage against USF, unless Tubs doesn't mind getting his QB's killed and secretly wants to move Jake Sopko up in the rotation.

whoa whoa whoa hoss....i get it, it was one game vs a crap miami team.

But i read he outplayed gunner in offseason and it was neck and neck with Moore the whole way. I like what Ive seen so far.

Does your "like what you've seen so far" include the dying ducks he flung up against Houston in the 4th quarter?

Moore has under thrown nearly every deep ball this year. Dying duck city. Avian flu.

That's not true. He may have underthrown a couple, but more often than not, he overthrows the deep ball to where if the receiver don't catch it, no one does.

Or the second best.

If true, this is a damning indictment of his coaches. He's got a superior arm. One would expect gradual improvement in the finer points of his game with good coaching. A lot of future NFL QBs start as freshman or sophs on raw talent, but don't get really good until they're jrs or seniors. IMHO, Tubs has completely mismanaged Kiel's development.

Best thing he could do now is drop out of school, and start working out with a private QB coach in preparation for the draft.

They should. If miami was able to get good pressure what do you think a winning team would be able to do.

Much of the pressure came from Boone's missed assignments and missed blocks.

It's amazing that they cannot teach him how to block.

Besides giving the coaches an excuse to rotate backs, Boone needs to get this fixed if he wants to play in the NFL. Nobody is going to take a RB at that level that gets his QB killed.

Yep, that's exactly correct. 2 new tackles, new wr's, and inexperienced qb's we should be happy to be at 3 and 1 for september.

We should be happy we played a FCS team, Miami (Oh No) and a Purdon't team that will have an interim coach in a month.

This is a huge game. Bigger than Houston IMO. Will determine if we have a chance for a rematch with Houston or whether we just finish in the middle of our division again.

Seriously? That is where we are at now? Happy to beat 3 crappy teams to start the season? Might as well dial it all the way back to the Minter years then. Hooray.
