Bye week musings/ ramblings
Just a few random/Misc. thoughts. Sucks when your team isn't playing on Saturday game day.

Did you see that Springfield's Bryant Koback got injured last night vs. Southview? Speculating that it's a broken leg. He is a Kentucky recruit. We know that Michael Warren was also committed to Kentucky before switching to Toledo. I thought it was interesting two backs from the same neighborhood would commit to the same school out of state. I wonder if that had something to do with Warren switching to Toledo? Maybe they offered both, thinking one would go elsewhere...and it happened. Both seem to be game changing athletes. On the TV highlights last night, Warren bulled his way out of a gang tackle and ripped off a TD vs. Whitmer. I've seen him play live and I've been following Warren in the media the past three years and I think we're getting the better player. Hope the Koback kid makes a full recovery.

Real curious in the Appalachian State vs. Akron game. I've watched them both play this season. Akron looks to be the team to beat in the East and App State isn't a push over. I hope BG loses by 40 to Memphis.

Eastern is on a roll and someone else pointed out that; what is going on when a team that beat NIU loses to EMU? Sign of the Apocalypse.

Health wise, we're pretty good right? Aside form the pre-season injuries, Moore is a question mark and maybe DJM? Other than that we're not banged up. Instead of healing these couple of weeks, we can game plan and take care of the little things that will bring us a BYU victory.

Army can get to 4-0 if they beat Buffalo (always root for the academies, except when they play UT). See Apocalypse comment above.

The west is again the beast over the east in the MAC, with UT, WMU & CMU. I just wish we'd have one of the WMU or NIU games at home. Now that we're in this cycle, it looks like we'll always either play both at home or both on the road. It didn't help us last year, but let's see if we can return the favor. I do like that NIU is fairly neutral this year, but I wish it wasn't during the week. It would have been a great weekend trip.

Not a whole lot to comment on the team over all. The defense has been solid. From the eye-test we look bigger, faster and more physical, especially in the secondary. The offense is scoring points. We're spreading the ball around and our QB efficiency hasn't seen any drop off. I love that we're actually utilizing the TE and we just keep dropping in RB's who eat 100 yard games for breakfast. I'm not noticing as many rushed, end of the clock play calling. The last few years I'd get nervous as we'd be still signaling the play with 5 seconds to go, or have to call a time out. The last couple of years it seems like we'd kick butt on D for the first two downs then give up a third and long. Not noticing that at all this year. I'm also noticing not as many dump play killing mistakes.

Exactly, must have missed the title, entitled musings and ramblings. Not a lot to talk about this week. We're healthy and hopefully prepped for BYU. Bored without UT playing today.

That's awful for Koback. Looks like Springfield still has a passing game, though. Maybe the will still do well.

I hope no one minds if I do a little rambling of my own. I am so fascinated by this team that the lack of information during this bye week has been hard. I was in school during the 35-0 team, Steve Mix and Tom Kozelko, and Wojo wrestling. That might have been the golden age of UT sports (it was TU then!). I love to follow the teams, but have not been anywhere near Toledo since graduating. Before the days of internet I would sometimes have to scour 6 or 8 newspapers before I could even find a score. Finding the rare 2 or 3 paragraph story on the football team or men's or women's basketball team was like striking oil. Now that I get information almost daily it is tough when the tap gets turned off!

Amen! And it was both TU and UT then. I attended UT and saw Kozelko and Wojo. Mix would have finished school right on the cusp.

If there is a radio show tonite I hope he gives injury updates on Moore and Jones and others. He is probably too smart to leak info on our status....

There was a BYU preview presser yesterday, and the video is up on Rocketvision. Candle was asked about DJM, and he said "I think Damion will be good to go". Nobody asked about Earl Moore.

A couple BG guys on AZZ were pulling for Memphis to get triple figures since it looked like the best shot they'd have to see that in their lifetime.
