Whats crazy is they can't even control their own, but we are supposed to take in thousands and thousands of undocumented Muslim immigrants?

I want to help those people too, but we can't cut our own throats in the process. The world is a big place, they don't HAVE to come here and we can still play a major role in helping them.

There is no such thing as Radical Islam. Take away the labels that the western world has placed on Muslims and they are merely that just Muslims. "Radical Islamic Jihad" is nothing new. This behavior has been around for the past 1400 years.

Moderate is the radical in Islam.

I think that might be skipping a few steps. We could start by taking the gloves off and leveling the safe havens that ISIS enjoys throughout the Middle East, and cease to put up with he saber rattling of course tries like Iran. Destroy their ability to make war and to extort money from the west. Break the spirit of terrorists by carpet bombing entire territories when they operate and train. Every terrorist act, regardless of how many people it kills, regardless of where it takes place, is met with extreme military action. They stab a guy on the street, they lose a village. Executions of captured terrorists are done publicly. Make waging a war of terror so costly that their great grandchildren wouldn't dare think about it.

Actually, destroying Mecca wouldn't be the nightmare scenario for ultra conservative Muslims that you think. They tend to think that holy sites are a form of idolatry. They bombed Muhammad's tomb. Wahhabism is different than you think.

We actually sorta do, for at least the immediate future. But we could get to where we didn't fairly quickly with the right policies, namely:

Converting local travel fleets that fuel at a central point to natural gas (some of this is happening, but could be much more);
Converting railroads back to electricity, and making electricity the prime mover for more industrial/commercial applications;
Increasing nuclear power to meet the additional demand and take over generation from other sources;
Supplementing domestic corn-based ethanol with sugar cane ethanol from southern states and imported from Brazil, Cuba (after restoring diplomatic relations), other places in Latin America and West Africa;
A major effort to resolve the CO2 issues with coal liquefaction/gasification in order to enable another domestic hydrocarbon source;
Continued step-up in domestic oil and gas exploration (the one thing that has done most to wean us off foreign oil so far), probably including things like the Keystone pipeline;
And yes, ramped up development of green alternatives like conservation, solar, wind, and electric cars, understanding that their contributions are going to be minor for the near future and that the other items listed are going to be doing the heavy lifting.

As long as we are not energy self-sufficient, we have to play in the international oil market, and as long as we do that we are affected by what happens in the Mideast, whether directly or indirectly.

Problem is that nobody is going that way.
