The soccer team demolished Louisiana Tech 4-0 in Ruston after a disappointing loss to North Texas last weekend.

Good stuff. The team is talented and just needs to keep working hard. The wins will come.

Good to see a big win. I have been to a couple matches this year and haven't been too impressed so far. We had a difficult time generating anything from the run of play (corner kicks were our primary offense) and we were markedly less athletic than our opposition. To be fair, the two opposing teams I saw (UNT, Samford) look to have pretty good teams this year.

If my memory serves correct, I think I saw that our first two goals last night were off corners as well?

Cheering for the women and hope last night's victory initiates a winning streak.

Yes. They did not look good against North Texas. I hope this won't be another disappointing season like last year. Stat tune.

Rice has a big game Friday against Western Kentucky. They need to win if they want to compete for the conference championship. Everyone please come out and bring your friends. Should be beautiful weather.

RE: Women Soccer
Thanks for the information. Conference USA has a terrible RPI rating for soccer relative to the other major conferences. We should be dominating the conference. We really need a tougher non conference schedule. Other wise we will always have a high RPI (>75).

another situation where a little recruiting money should lead to domination.

There is virtually no 'path to the pros' here, so the value of our education over our conference peers should be almost immeasurable. We should be able to get almost anyone we want

In C-USA play (since joining the conference in 2005) Rice has allowed one goal by USM. Yesterday's win extends the record against USM to 10-0.

To me, a young team is a team dominated by freshmen and sophomores (like the MBB team). If your freshmen and sophomores are already getting most of the playing time and having the greatest impact, then you can argue that the team is likely to improve as these young players develop, mature, and improve.

On this soccer team, we do have a freshman goalie. However, it is juniors and seniors (mostly juniors) who have played the most minutes and taken the most shots.

Thanks for the ranking. What was our ranking at the end of 2015 and 2014? Any information available?

RE: Women Soccer
Interesting we are higher ranked then last year. I thought the team last year was more athletic then this year's team but also older. However, we did have some disappointing losses in the tournament.
