So long as he doesn't turn into Bob Davie, he has bought himself years of goodwill thanks to the title game appearance.

only thing is- that's 4 years ago now. He's only 28-15 since the title game, and 13-13 vs winning teams. 7-5 vs ACC teams. He's got a fall guy this year in the DC, but would have to think next year may see some real pressure on him.

and next years schedule isn't easy. has Georgia and Michigan St early, plus 3 road ACC games with BC, UNC, and Miami.

He'll be fine. Notre Dame would be wise not just to pull the trigger because they can, it took them 15 years to find a good coach after Holtz left and they have been to Hell and back trying to wake up the echoes. Michigan State was a bad loss but otherwise the other two were coin flips.

the thing is, they're 1-3, against a pretty suspect schedule. Texas, Nevada, Mich St, and Duke. Those 4 are 2-5 vs FBS schools not Notre Dame. And the 2 wins- UTEP and Buffalo. Hardly murderers row there.

It could be worse for Notre Dame... they could have just given a 5-year contract to Clay Helton. 07-coffee3

Preseason ranked 10th. What a farce. Only question is whether they will be ranked number 5 next year. It's not that I just intrinsically hate Notre dame or their fans but the unearned hype year after year after year is just absurd. Most teams play their way into the polls. Notre dame plays their way out. Enough.

As I said, they'll be fine. Going for next hotshot head coach may not work either as ND is a different animal and their success may not translate. Overreact and you're in purgatory for another 20 years.

The second one being laughable for many reasons, but most notably that the official Bottom Ten pillow fight of the week went to OT.

Kelly is taking a lot of justifiable heat, but will likely survive this year by jettisoning his DC and other assistants.

Next year?

Sorry if it was already mentioned: the Buffs are back! Played at Michigan pretty respectable. And crushed CO St, which I just saw in Minny are pretty good team.

I think their fans have been waiting since Dan Hawkins was hired ... Probably longer. Looks like MacIntrye actually produced a winner at San Jose St, so you know he can couch.

And Oregon's uniforms were ridiculous.

RE: Laughable Scores 2016 - Week 4
OU looks like they stay ranked at 1-2. UT looks like they stay ranked despite ND and Cal losing, making their 2-1 mark look less good. LSU probably falls out with their loss.

Pretty much everyone just outside the rankings lost. 28, 31-37, 39 and 40 lost. And #30 Iowa and #38 NC won on late TDs vs. weaker teams. So you've got #26 TCU, #27 NDSU and #29 Boise as the only ones who might move up. NDSU will probably be forgotten about a week later. And TCU and Boise's wins, vs. SMU and Oregon St., aren't going to get them much extra credibility.

Two points of agreement here Bison. Colorado was better than the score in the Michigan game. Their kicking special teams broke down and they lost their focus. Kudos to Michigan, but they clearly played well both before and after that spate of special teams miscues. So I don't think the Buffs are through making noise in the PAC for this season.

Second, those orange leggings & socks made the Ducks truly look like Disney caricatures of Mallards. It was colorful and comical at the same time and I couldn't help but think of Ralphie (A Christmas Story not Colorado's Buffalo) in his Aunt's pink bunny costume. That thought made me laugh! They're off their bean in Eugene!

To those of you predicting that Kelly would survive this year at Notre Dame by firing his DC ... you were right ....

Hudson has been a DC for Minnesota, a while back. Good luck to him.
