I thought it would evolve into a self-congratulatory thread for WMU and CMU and yes, congrats to EMU, on two wins (which is already 2x last year's total).

Interest in MAC FB within the state of Michigan is as high as I can remember over the last 1/4 century... (I can't remember MI MAC teams having defeated two B1G teams and a top 25 team before fall even began).

I think the MAC is very fortunate to have scheduled WMU @ CMU for Oct 1. when the weather is still good and excitement is very high (neither team has lost as of 9/21).

Nothing wrong with the MAC having a Saturday evening game with HOPEFULLY two undefeated rival teams playing before a full stadium and a national sports network (CBSSN).

Just like most threads in here they get derailed but somehow they get put back on track. When nothing has been accomplished yet, why should we turn this into a self congratulatory thread? Now, if the two P5 schools finish the season 1-2 in their division in the Big Ten, if the three G5 schools finish the season 1-2-3 in the MAC West and if the two Div-II teams finish 1-2 in the GLIAC than yes, that would be the time to talk. But, three games into the OOC part of the schedule really isn't the time to puff out our chests and blow our own horns. At any given moment and and all 7 of these teams can go winless the rest of the way.

The Toledo Strip houses something in the neighborhood of 500k people. It adds to Ohio's political influence. Everyone forgets about Ohio until it's time to elect a president. Then is suddenly becomes the center of attention.

Well, EMU Steve started it.

Then Dan Patrick jumped in.

Tony Paul is now on board...

Both Central Michigan and Western Michigan could be in the hunt for the Access Bowl. But will the MAC East champion swoop in at the last minute to ruin the situation as has happened several times before in league history? I really like where the Chippewas and Broncos stand at the moment, but if any league knows the risk of a 13th game it is the MAC:

Wow, they put WMU at #2, CMU at #5, and Toledo at #7. Odd. It's far too early to rank them in a pecking order, except Houston at the Top.

I like that ranking. It's different ranking the access bowl chances vs. how good the teams are. If all you do is blow out bad teams, there is little room for error without a signature win. I'd by far give WMU and CMU better chances at the NY6.

Indeed.

Probably a MAC team needs to go 13 - 0 and that is pretty damn tough.

The best thing for say WMU is that they have gone through their P5 OOC games and came out in good shape.

Last year they played MSU and OSU and that is NO way to come up with 12 or 13 wins.

So WMU isn't going for it's 3rd FBS win against Georgia Southern (Sun Belt)? The intent was good the writing was lousy.

The writer, a MAC grad, indicated that EMU has TWO wins vs FCS. He missed that Charlotte is FBS.

Apparently he doesn't do any actual research or proof reading.

Are we really that surprised?
