Not that I'm trying to stick up for Larussa, but you do realize that there are walk ons starting at QB throughout the nation, right?

Heck, our best defensive player is an FCS walk-on.

Ones that didn't have any other FBS offers, or ones that had FBS offers and decided to walk on at a different school (e.g. OU's Mayfield)?
I did also see that UTSA has a walk-on QB, but where are the others?

Come on guys. We all know there are EXCEPTIONS to the rule. Just because a handful of walk ons pan out doesn't mean the rating system is worthless. Ever heard of a bell curve? Let's not use outliers as proof of anything except there are exceptions. If you want to build a team with walk ons, go ahead. I'd prefer a team of 3-4 star players.

Yes, a walkon can be an NCAA football star and a grocery store stocker can be an NFL star. Sometimes you see talent when others don't and sometimes it is pure luck. Still a poor strategy, especially on the grounds we recruit from. Not many in the 757 capable of starring at the FBS level are going to fall through the cracks and not get looked at. There are other areas of the country where you are more likely to find a diamond that others aren't looking at, like Boise State and NDSU.

The point is there are walk ons that earn positions over rated players. That is probably more of an indication that the walk on was better than perceived as opposed to immediately thinking it's because the rated guys were crap.

And just my opinion, but Coward is the best player on our defense. By a mile.

I'm sure it's just a matter of the staff going trough the motions the depth chart on the game for tomorrow show SB as the number 2 QB. For what it's worth it showed the same thing heading in to the NC State game. It likely has't changed since the end of fall practice.
