On 88 going West just past Naperville, there is a SEC billboard that says something like "we are closer than you think" Anybody else see it? I'm assuming it's to tweak the Big 10 but just shows you how much money they have in order to do that.

Or perhaps Sean is looking past the Big 12 for us and we are going right to the SEC.

It's a Mizzou advertisement. Smart since many of the suburban students are leaving Illinois for Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin already. I've heard some students going to Mizzou from out here but not as many so that's a smart move by them.

Mizzou being in the SEC, it's promoting both the school and the conference. I haven't seen the billboard, but I'd bet the SEC logo is on it.

Missouri recruits the suburban high schools hard. They were enrolling a lot of Illinois students until a downturn this year because of the issues they had last year. With their enrollment dropping this year, they will refocus on Illinois students.

My son goes to Mizzou. When he was a freshman and needed a ride home, there were so many kids from chicago and northwest suburbs he could get rides from. Once he got his residency after the 1st year, he pays less than NIU costs.

SEC logo is front and center. I thought it was probably for Mizzou but it definitely looked more generic than that. I'll take a better look this week when I head back to Dekalb for WIU

That's right, and I'm pretty sure there's another one on the south end of the Tri-State, maybe around 127th.

There's also one on I-55, near Cicero Avenue, I think.

Yes the SEC logo is on it...larger than Mizzu is. But still it's a Mizzu billboard not an SEC one.

I just went down to Myrtle Beach and there are billboards for Coastal Carolina everywhere. Billboards welcoming the students, billboards congratulating the baseball team, etc.

You're splitting hairs. Makes perfect sense for both Missouri and the SEC to want to promote themselves in Chicagoland. Could be a joint effort. With the SEC logo being larger, they could be even paying for at least part of the billboard costs.
