Big XII will eventually expand. It makes too much sense. Money prevails and they don't want to miss out on a championship game forever. A delay in expansion isn't the worst thing for us. We are growing; and the closer we are to a completed stadium, the more attractive we are.

If that happened I could see WVU and Cincy headed to Big 10 and Houston going Big12 to replace WVU. These schools traveling all over the country for conference games is complete nonsense.

I'm still surprised that UConn isn't in the ACC with Syracuse and BC there.

Agreed on the travel being nonsense in a lot of these leagues but why would the B1G go to uneven divisions for Cincy? They have little use for them. They own that market already. Not to mention the link posted says Cincy would be joining the Big 12 with Houston, BYU and Nebraska.

Two things:

I didn't read the content at the link, just the post on the thread. Tapatalk gives me a lot of errors when I try to click through so I didn't see that.

I also didn't lookup the makeup of the big 10's divisions. My point was that WVU makes about as much sense in the Big 12 as ODU and UTEP belong in the same conference at about 2,000 miles apart. I knew the Big 10 has divisions, but if they make as much geographic sense as the ones in the ACC then they are worthless.

From my understanding, the reason UConn isn't in the ACC is because Syracuse and BC are there.

From my understanding, the reason UConn isn't in the ACC is because Syracuse and BC are there.

The only foreseeable path for UConn to the ACC I see now would be in the very, very unlikely event that Notre Dame joined the ACC in all sports.
With the ACC extending it's GoR through 2036, there likely won't be quite as massive a conference upheaval in 2025/26 (expiration of the other GoRs) as there otherwise might have been. No program will leave the ACC before 2036.

The Big-10 actually cares about its academics. I don't know enough about WVU's academics but I didn't think they were up to the caliber of the Big-10.

So much for the dream of getting out of this conference. Maybe now the G5 can start realignment talks, though Minium says thats never going to happen. Maybe UTEP and Rice still go MW. Maybe CUSA should consider adding UMass for all sports. Thats a lot of maybes.

I just have a hunch that the Big 12 will eventually expand. It just seems that the direction the power 5 conferences are going is the 12-14 member range. The networks weren't to excited about paying the Big 12 all that extra money if they expanded. But in the long run I think a larger Big 12 will be necessary for the conference's TV deals to pay the kind of money the other P5's will be getting in the future. And unless the other conference's TV networks aren't making the kind of money they hoped for, the Big 12 should want in on that too. So adding 2 more schools would really help with ratings.

Assuming the Big 12 revisits this in a few years, this delay could only benefit ODU's chances of moving to the AAC. Will give ODU more time to establish some football success.
