I wonder what ULM would have moved to if we had beaten GS. 120 sucks. I don't think we are that bad.

I don't think so either. Same with NMSU. They will be a handful for Troy this weekend.

I can't believe we're still ahead of some teams after that Wazzu game.

NMSU scares the daylights out of me. Then again, Kentucky and New Mexico don't have a defense as good as Troy's. I just hope Larry Rose isn't back in action for that game...

I notice Georgia Southern has the highest variation of rankings among everyone in the FBS.

I guess they move around a little until all the ratings are in and updated.

NMSU is not deserving of a 125th ranking. We'll see that this weekend. They are capable of beating us if we go in believing last week's game was the second coming of Troy.

Hope not. I hope we are taking this year one game at a time like brown says

That is not quite true. For GS, the standard deviation of all of the individual ratings is 18.65. there are several teams with larger standard deviations, e.g., Wash. St. 21.89, UVA 21.47, and Army 20.44.

Is Larry Rose back? They've been pretty good without him so I can't imagine they will be any worse with him.

Part of that is probably due to where GS sits in the aggregate ranking. Overall, it looks like it's a lot easier for the rankers to agree on the very good and the very bad; it's those teams in the middle that are tough.

I also don't doubt that GS's offense could throw off some of the systems that use funky algorithms involving specific stats.

What does Massey take into account for these rankings, anyway? NMSU is still somehow ranked below Idaho despite having outplayed us so far this year and beating us last year.

I get that we likely had a slightly better 2015 than they did but we're now 3 games into 2016 and that's definitely not the case so far this year.

Massey doesn't themselves do anything. At least not in this context. The Massey Ratings are a composite, meaning they take the average of several different ranking systems, including the ones that were once used to determine the BCS computer rankings. 59 different systems were used in today's composite.

Think A-State was at #99 after week 4 in 2015.
