Everyone lost except MTSU and WKU. I didn't add it up by I think that would be 2-11. God this conference sucks and now we are part of the problem.

This has to be the worst weekend in C-USA history, and even for an overall optimist, like myself, it's hard to see much good at the moment. If you think about it, not even our two conference wins were all that impressive. WKU didn't overwhelm with their win over Miami, O. MTSU gets the win of the week honors, over Bowling Green, who appears to be feckless this year. But at least, they took care of business, so congrats to them! The rest of us did not. It was an ugly week. It's that simple.
We are, without doubt, the weakest FBS conference, this year, and have a long way to go...an awfully long way.

We are gonna have a 8-4 and 7-5 team in the championship at this point. This is going to be like the old Big East where everyone beats up on each other.

We absolutely looked awful in our game, but I am trying not to judge the team too harshly over it. We had injuries to several key players going in. The game started in a downpour and lead to several turnovers early. Then the officials destroyed any rhythm, throwing flags on almost every play. We got jobbed out of a TD right before half (Trigg was in on 3rd down). Miami (OH) had two long TD's off of tipped balls. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong and we still won on the road. Coach Brohm wasn't happy and there is going to be some ass chewing this week going into the Vandy game. I am betting we come out like a different team in that one.

We certainly did underwhelm in our win. Defense and special teams pulled it out for us. It didn't help that our top two running backs (Wales and Ferby) did not play against Miami due to injury. Hopefully, we have both of them back this coming Saturday when we play Vandy.

Did our conference become equal to the belt last night? Well at least it's going to be interesting in conference.

Here is how I rank this last weekends performances.
.
1. MTSU - beat a weak BG team on the road but by a comfortable margin.
2. WKU - sloppy game with bad breaks & injuries but won on the road albeit another weak MAC team.
3. UTSA - made a pretty solid ASU team earn their win.
4. LaTech - decent showing on the road @ a Big12 venue but Red Raiders shredded their D.
5. USM - lost to Troy at home which was a surprise but at least made them earn the win in a close game.
6. Rice - offense was bad but it was Baylor and allowing them only 38 points is a step in the right direction.
7. FIU - yes UMass is not very good but it was at their place and they did not get embarrassed by the final score.
8. ODU - losing on the road to an average ACC school is not a bad thing in most cases but by 27 was the ugly part.
9. North Texas - giving up only 32 at Florida is much better than losing by 66 at home to Portland but the offense was offensive.
10. Charlotte - losing to EMU is never a good thing, because they have been terrible but by 18 is not that eye opening.
11. Marshall - None us thought The Herd would lose at home to a middle of the pack MAC team and by 27 is the clincher, ouch.
12. FAU - my sleeper pick in the East, looks like they were sleep walking in Manhattan, loss not a surprise but the margin, yikes.
13. - UTEP - giving up 66 to Army? really? I picked the Miners to win this one. Abysmal showing in front of the home folks. Just ugly.

Hard to be equal when the team picked by most to win the conference gets beat at home by a team that's only won 3 OOC FBS games in 5 years.
Now 4 and BTW all are against CUSA...UAB 3 times
Or when Marshall gets the dog crap out of them...again on the home field by a mid level (mostly bottom) MAC team
That's CUSA two top 'brand' schools getting beat at home to programs that have been awful for the most part over the last 5 seasons.
Nope...far from equal

Be careful what you wish for. Everyone seems to be under the impression UAB will come back and win like they did in their last year.
It's much more likely they pull a couple of Charlotte years before they become respectable again.
I'm in Birmingham now, and I'm considering making that Alabama A&M opener.

That is the one bright spot from Marshall point of view, is I haven't been impressed from anyone I've seen and I've watched almost every CUSA team play. I don't see a favorite as of right now.

I see a couple favorites but not like last year where Western was head and shoulders better. I think for the most part Tech in the west and Western in the east have shown minor adjustments are needed....
not major improvement on one or both sides of the ball like just about everyone else in the conference needs.
I would probably put S. Miss in the group that needs a little more than Tech and Western. And Middle right there with them because it's only one side of the ball that needs the improvement.
But I think right now Tech in the west and Western in the east needs the least amount of adjustment...overhaul. But it's not as cut and dry as last year

Which side of the ball would that be for Middle? I believe many of us have conflicting opinions on that one.

I would say offensively Middle is close to the top of CUSA defense needs a lot of improving....
especially if you see what Vandy did yesterday
