As per new B1G rules, there are 9 conference games, and you are not allowed to play FCS. Maryland and Rutgers both play an FCS in 2017 but none after that. Will Minnesota still be allowed to play that game (and get a one-time exception) or be forced to reschedule it? Btw, I like the new rules.

Yes, for fear of losing.

If it was already scheduled it's grandfathered in. Now, if they were to drop this game for somebody else...that would raise a few eyebrows and some laughs.

Going forward it will be interesting to see if G5 programs will schedule FCS powers.
NDSU seems to only play up against P5 the checks are only a little better.
Why would a San Diego St or BSU schedule Montana or NDSU they can schedule a UC-Davis or Webber ST.
Playing those teams over a ten year period would give you three to five losses .
Doesn't mean their safe Southern Utah won the Big Sky last year and UND beat Wyoming.
I doubt there is much of a difference in WSU losing to EWU vs South Alabama beating Miss ST perception wise.
Losing to NDSU is not even an embarrassment anymore they get so much attention.

Personally my prediction for the future is that only the SEC and Big 12 will play FCS teams in tbe future unless the game is an intra-state matchup like Clemson-SCSt. We will see.

Not sure if this is a serious thread ... the game was already scheduled. So it goes without saying the conference will let them play it.

Now, they may decide to buy out of the game for multiple reasons. Such as: with limited non-conf opportunities they may wish to bring a more attractive opponent to TCF Bank stadium.

Game is Grandfathered in. They'll play it. 04-cheers

If Delany and the B-10 have a problem with it let the B-10 buy it out with their money. 04-rock 04-jawdrop 03-nutkick 01-lauramac2 05-stirthepot 04-rock

No. I believe Iowa has a game vs Northern Iowa still scheduled and maybe Wisconsin does too. The games will be played.
Cheers!

They'll play it. Even if they simply bought out of the game to schedule a higher-level opponent for rankings purposes, there would be still be the narrative that Minnesota was scared to lose to SDSU so they'll play it.
