That may have been the most bush-league play I have ever seen once a game was out of hand.....way to stay classy UNC. What I would expect from a Fedora coached team though.

UNC has 2 NFL rbs, 3 NFL WRs. Plus our Dline is has zero pass rush against these guys.

I understand that, but our guys aren't even competing. I'm not expecting our defense to go out and win a bunch of 1 on 1 battles and shut down their offense, but I expected something better than what we've seen so far.

It's even more frustrating considering our offense was hanging in there and scoring right with UNC. Again, I didn't expect to win but I was hoping for something better than what our defense has shown so far.

I would respectfully disagree that the JMU D isn't competing. They're just getting beat. It happens, even when you're trying.

Have to agree. UNC has exploited an obvious talent difference on the Offense. We're playing hard.

Agree 100%. Just b/c you are getting beat by NFL caliber talent at the skill positions does not mean you are not competing. UNC is doing on offense what a talented FBS offense should do to a FCS team. They are blocking and taking advantage on the matchups and the QB missed something like 1 pass all day. Guy was on fire today.

Keyboard warriors are being brutal to the 'D' in an FBS-FCS matchup. The 'D' will not face no where near this level of offensive talent & firepower for the rest of the season.

But you can't look at the results today and say, "Man, the JMU defense really went out and competed today. They held their own even though they were severely outgunned." You can rarely say this during a 60 minute football game (as opposed to 55 minute football games), but I can't think of a single positive thing that the JMU defense did today. There's still 11 minutes to play so maybe we'll see something here.

I'm sure Houston and the staff will get things sorted out after this game and we'll see a much improved defense when we get to CAA play. CAA teams just don't have the weapons that UNC does. We'll be alright in the long run, but today was bad. Really bad.

Dude...the level of effort is more than just a "technicality." Not saying the results aren't disappointing, but give credit where credit is due. UNC's an excellent offense, and JMU just doesn't have the depth. I wish there was more talent too on JMU's D, so it's not a fair judgment to say the defense hasn't played hard.

I guess I'm just shocked that it was as bad as it was. I didn't think we'd shut UNC out but I didn't think today would look like this. I guess that's what's most frustrating.

Honestly, the results are what I expected. I was hoping for a flawless offensive performance by JMU, knowing it would take scoring on virtually every possession to keep it close.

What we learned today is JMU's offense is for real. Our D is better, but we aren't going to win a championship unless we get a better pass rush.

I agree with most of what you said except the D is better. It very well may end up being better in the end but you can't possibly suggest today's performance indicates the D is better... They gave up a TD on EVERY possession

Man you guys are really brutal on the D in a FBS game.

I guess we all felt a lot better the last time we played UNC and lost 42-10 with virtually no offense in 2011. OR
42-12 against WVU in 2012 OR
52-7 against Maryland in 2014 OR
31-7 against Duke in 2008 OR
45-10 against WVU in 2004 (we were pretty good that year with a darn good defense right???? So what happened with WVU -- talent gap period)

If we play non P5 schools we have a much better chance to compete (i.e. Akron, SMU) but you get the big $$$ for P5 schools.

I also would add that a UNC buddy of mine commented that we don't "look" like an FCS team. He said we had comparable talent to Illinois....I told him that was an insult!

#13 is second team all acc and averaged 24 yards per catch last season at 6'4 215

#3 is an all american return man

#34 if he stays will probably leave UNC as an all time rusher at 220 pounds

lol

+1

Totally agree Hotrod. Some people just don't know how to recognize talent differentials.

Yup +1.

There is a reason these FCS-FBS games are payday games for us....duh. 30 more scholarships and a talent gap with the UNC Off skills positions.

In all my years of watching cfb, no penalty call has been so constantly borderline at best in some instances then pass interference. Refs in the backfield are always ready to throw a flag and video evidence be damned, their call is going to stand.

Agree 100%.

The en-vogue targeting call is a close 2nd though.

The UNC fans around me were really impressed with Abdullah/Johnson and wanted to know how we got those guys.

85 to 63..

We'll find out if the defense is much better than last year in the next couple of weeks. Jury is still out.
