No, we didn't. We put ourselves in position to win. We didn't but we gave ourselves a chance against a great opponent.
Arrowhead agrees with me. The management of that very last set of downs gave a probable win away. You evidently think emotionally, not probabilistically.
Revise your thought process to better understand probable outcomes. Or don't.
You need to revise your thought process period. I can look at the long game while you're stuck in the short game. Learn to expand your thinking. I can recommend some books but they don't have pictures.
SOT I know what you are saying, but statistically if you run 3 times up the middle. If you don't score the TD, you run the clock down and kick the chip shot FG. Probably doesn't get blocked then because not trying to kick line drive.

I'm hoping that will be seen and corrected, as it is 3 straight weeks of increasing penalties.
These are college student-athletes we're talking about, right?

UGLY WIN>PRETTY LOSS
We did everything possible to lose this game and still won. We left at the min 10 points on the field on self inflicted easily correctable stuff as much as three TD's due to our QB's throwing, bad decisions and over the top penalties. The PF taunting alone was BS and how do you still get 15 yards when the targeting was over ruled?

The GS offense of last year was so much more explosive than this year s version. We are more of a grind it out offense now.
watched replay of game. Both teams had many stupid penalties. Just an all around sloppy game. ULM was in great position to win and if not for a stroke of luck would have won

If you go read our board you would think we lost 56-0

Don't like our new offense either, but I think this being a tougher game than we anticipated had something to do with ULM's efforts, these guys play us tough.

We been buddies with ULM a long time then they let us down. A GS conf. loss would have been great. Of course unless we can get all our talent pulling on the rope(sorry Cajuns) in the same direction it won't make any difference.

GS lost both OG's (Foreman, Byrd) from last year, their starting RT (Thornton), and two darned good H-back/TE's (Dean and Ward). Their replacements haven't played nearly as well and one should look no further than that to see the difference in production between the 2015 and 2016 offenses.
GS is legit on defense, special teams, and the offensive skill positions though. Once their o-line gels (hopefully next Saturday) they'll be fine.
That said, a big tip of the hat to ULM... they were ready to play, had a good game plan, and played their butts off.

WHAT a game. I probably jumped three feet off the ground for the blocked FG.
ULM's defense looked faster than the Eagle offense, especially in the first half.
ULM's punter performed at all-conference level.
Georgia Southern offense seems to have no identity. Point of potential worry going forward.

That bothers me. I've noticed we don't seem to have a speed advantage outside either. These guys didn't instantly get slower either.
Our biggest issue right now is definitely OL performance.

Our opponent defenses seem much more free to over-pursue now than with the old scheme.

We will beat WMU by 3TDs and come away even more confused than we are now.

That's Boynton not Thornton fwiw, definitely is a big loss on the OL though.

Having watched the replay of both USA and ULM. I'm not even really convinced its the over-pursuit that is killing us. I think our Guards and TE's are confusing who they are responsible for. Quite a few times we've gotten the numbers we want (especially on the outside) but either the pulling guard blocks the wrong guy or the TE whiffs on the crashing LB. We pick up those blocks and you start to see the explosive plays add up. We basically have all "rookie" TE's right now and that IMO is making a world of difference on the outside. As far as the inside run game goes, we aren't completing enough short passes to keep the LB's from crowding the LOS.
Then you throw in the penalties and get you get what happened last weekend. You cant fix ALL of those things over the course of a week, but if we can improve at least one of them our offense will look much better.

The warhawks brought their game. Lucky to escape with a W.
This weekends matchup should be pretty sporty.

I completely agree on the TE position. We have some big, athletic guys there, but they are green. We should see improvement there soon (hopefully this season) as these guys learn better blocking techniques.
