Rice is clearly a better institution than Baylor, and so it makes sense that Rice doesn't care much what Baylor thinks about this, even if Baylor has a Big 12 vote. They won't allow that to deter them from showing disdain about disgraces taking place at Baylor.

At Rice, unlike at many other applicants, there are much more important things than whether or not their athletic teams play in a Power conference.

My grandma was a teacher at Rice and Faculty-in-Residence in the dorm hall. It's an awesome campus and great school, the band has been known to troll the other school. That's not a good look any way you look at it and I'm sure they'll get a talking too. The school has to focus on getting into The American. Personally it'd be great for them to join the Big 12 but I think the Pac-12 is much more realistic if they ever decide to move to 16 teams, possibly Big Ten but they need to show a commitment to athletics. The baseball program is elite, basketball in Men's & Women's has never been good but if they can get success in Football that helps speed up the process. They need to hope that Houston gets the call-up because I can't see the AAC losing the 3rd biggest market in the United States and not replace them, especially when they have like-minded Universities in the conference.

We always loved the Rice band. It takes a school that can laugh at themselves. One time they made fun of A&M's traditions and they had to get a police escort out of College Station.

Making light of it? No, they publicly embarrassed Baylor over it. There is a difference. It's keeping the scandal in the public eye for another news cycle.

Houston is not anywhere close to the third largest market. Check back in 50 years.

It's the Marching Owl Band or MOB. That's what's expected of them. Make fun of the other school. They went to UT and formed a $EC logo on the field, they made fun of Johnny Manziel at A&M, they called Todd Graham when he was at Tulsa "dbag".

They have my vote.
