Please splain.

With the knowledge that Aleppo is the 2nd largest city in Syria.

It has been a "poster child" for civilian casualties for YEARS. Read Vanity Fair article from July '15 referencing the issue in '14.

Iconic picture of the little boy from Aleppo in an ambulance with wall to wall news coverage about a week or so before the "gaffe".

If the question was the conclusion of conversation regarding Fantasy Football, #brocoach and or other like critical matters that have these candidates focused attention THEN and ONLY THEN would it be a gotcha question. Has he stopped beating his wife? Does he inhale?

Be honest, seriously ... if he hadn't released the statement what would your position be?

My position on what? This issue? Gary Johnson?

My position is that this whole thing is overblown. Comparing and contrasting party platforms, candidates' track records or candidates' strength of character...those are all noble pursuits. Those are things that matter.

If we had a discussion every time a presidential candidate did/said something stupid or inaccurate or incorrect or ignorant....we'd be here all day.

In the context of the interview it was strange. From what I remember, the interview was winding down and they were discussing a somewhat unrelated topic when the reporter came out of left field with that question. I might be wrong, I can't remember exactly. But that's why Johnson was kind of taken aback by it. He thought it was an acronym for something at first because they were discussing a different issue.

How do you define immediate?

He was posed the question.

He stared blankly for what seemed an inordinate amount of time. Clearly thinking through his briefings and what not that is done for all these shows.

He then asked, not with a sheepish shrug or a "help me could you rephrase that question" kind of response. But with incredulity, "what was/is Aleppo?"

Stunned silence from the 4-5 person panel. I mean what do you say or do with a Presidential candidate who responds to a question about a current event, tied to major foreign policy, etc .like that?

Then the host, Morning Joe, weighed in taking his time framing his question. Maybe buying time for Johnson to interrupt with an admission, or "Hey, gotcha! Y'all thought I was serious there. So let me explain ..." But the host had to protect the integrity of the show, his panel and least of all himself and ask WHY would anyone who doesn't know what the heck Aleppo is, was or represents in a bigger picture thinks they should be seriously considered to be Commander in Chief?

Johnson then continued with his vapid talking points. Seemingly oblivious to both the damage done and continuing to be done. It was like watching a train wreck in slo mo.

So how do you define immediately again?

On the gaffe man! Focus please. This isn't Bronco sports that is relevant to 10 of us unless we count fake ID's.

I would argue just the opposite.

This "stuff" has been going on for a very long time. I read or hear little here.

We leave it to the political class, the media wonks, the industrial military complex, social activists and all the others that get paid handsomely to handle it and when it comes to stand up and be counted the room is empty as many have abdicated their responsibility but have time to throw an occasional Molotov cocktail of complaints when the room begins to stink.

Too late Irene.

It's inexplicable. You yourself GBL, are so unflinchingly focused on this issue.

I dropped cable a month or so ago as No and I found it a waste. So I don't get all the screaming heads anymore. I don't subscribe to a news paper or magazine so unless I'm at the doctors or dentists ...

My original post was a throw away.

Hey, the former Gov. of New Mexico, who has taken a couple stabs at the Oval Office before and isn't looked at seriously by most just blundered on TV. No surprise.

He is the 3rd candidate. We are in the middle of baseball. The other two candidates are dopes. Johnson makes for the convenient 3rd strike - WE are out for allowing these 3 clowns to be the choices in this critical election.

I went away to focus on our upcoming undefeated Football season but then the diminishing, excusing, justifying, silly comments.

My throw away post ... is still a throw away. Johnson is and has always been irrelevant. But I'm amused by the reponses. And I'm just this close to 11,000 posts so keep it coming.

Now that Nana is a NoNo with the Bronco's I gone.

It was a gaffe. It is what it is. It was a bone-headed moment for a candidate that's climbing in the polls and trying to become relevant in this election. Sucks for him. And to answer your question, I believe he issued his response/apology the following morning.

Congrats on 11k.

And good luck to all of us this election season. I hope we all live through it.
