SlingTV update
It now has the ESPN3 channel so no more need to watch on computer or tablet. That is all.

Also available on Roku, Apple TV, Fire Tv and Chromecast. All of these require Comcast Internet or TV, Directv, Dish to sign on.

Maybe true, maybe not.
Depending on your internet provider, you may only have access to ESPN, ESPN2, & non-TV broadcast games on ESPN3. You may not have access to certain ESPN channels, including ESPNews, ESPNU, SEC, PAC12, etc...again, depending on your provider.
Sling's "orange" service ($19.99/mo) has several "add-on" options. The "sports" option costs $5/mo and includes the full ESPN lineup.
FWIW...We've had Roku for 4+ years & have been subscribing to Sling for 2. Comcast was costing over $270/mo when we dropped it. My monthly TV bill is now around $60, excluding internet...and I can still find basically any show I want to watch between Sling, Netflix, Hulu, & Amazon Prime.

I think the 3 is being offered as part of the sports add-on package. On my computer the 3 is via my provider. They also added some PAC10 channels and a SEC-PLUS channel which appears to air the Olympic sports.
I made the switch for the same reasons you pointed out and have no regrets. My family gets all of the TV they care to watch. Our trips to Redbox are even less now. It's too easy to do the pay-per-view. It may cost a dollar or two more but well worth not having to make the drive to get and return.
