RE: Marshall fans
Upscale:
LeBistro in Pullman Square and Tapas lounge downstairs
Savannah's
LaFamiglia

Casual:
Anything in Pullman (Roosters, Max&Ermas), or closer to campus local flare: Buddy's BBQ, Blacksheep Burrito. Also a neat bite to eat for lunch is the 60s cafe in the Harley-Davidson shop. Can't forget Fat Patty's right by the stadium!

Local Italian in Barboursville try Fratellis in River Place, or local coal fired foods at Christopher's Eats also in River Place.

Drive-in eats:
Midway (excellent NC style BBQ)
Frostop

That's a start. There's a lot more.

La Famiglia is NOT upscale...

If you're in the mood for high end, I highly recommend 21 at the Frederick across from the Keith Albee theater on 4th ave.

Prime is 1/2 block west from there.

On 3rd you have Backyard pizza and raw bar..its phenomenal...the Peddler for gourmet burgers... There is the Marshall hall of fame cafe on 3rd as well...

Fat Patty's for decent burgers and bar food...

Where are you staying???

Marshall Hall Of Fame restaurant is a good place and they will be showing the NFL game tonight on the big screen. Probably wont be able to get into fat pattys with the coaches show going on tonight.

Marshall Hall of Fame Cafe and Fat Patty's.

No reason to go anywhere else imo.

Fat Patty's is an awesome bar/pub/restaurant and right off of campus and the football stadium.

Hall of Fame Cafe is neat from a sports history standpoint and it is located right across from Pullman Square with nice little shops and such.

Don't listen to these guys, well, not all of them.

Casual cool places, either will be good:

Backyard Pizza and Raw Bar. Personal favorite is the Jamaican Jerk Pizza - very spicy. They have good appetizers also.
Black Sheep. Personal favorite is the Brisket Burrito. You have to get the potato salad, different and excellent. Get the Salsa Trio for the appetizer.

Go to the Marshall Hall of Fame after dinner to have a drink and watch Thursday Night football (it and Backyard are almost beside each other downtown).

I always get the seared ahi, the scallops in buerre blanc, and the wood grilled oysters....awesome stuff!

So up by the mall? Well, downtown isn't far... I recommend taking the extra ten to fifteen minutes to hit one or more of the downtown joints...

Downtown - If you lilke Seafood - Jewel City Seafood on 4th - excellent blackened Tilapia or Flounder.
Backyard Pizza
La Famiglia
Roccos in Ceredo - best place in the area.

Fat Patty's is way overrated on food quality.

MU Cafe is fine.

If you drive north on 10 you will come straight in to the west end of Marshall's campus and straight to Black Sheep on the corner of 3rd Avenue.

Unless Rocco no longer oversees everything, Roccos in Ceredo - is some of the best Italian food I've ever had.

RE: Marshall fans
As others have posted, there are a surprisingly good number of restaurants in the Huntington area. My current favorites in no particular order.

- The Peddler (VERY COOL new place near Pullman Square. High end burgers and arcade)
- Backyard Pizza (craft pizza)
- Hillbilly Hotdogs (Go to the original Lesage, WV location)
- Black Sheep (specialty burritos)

My current favorite is The Peddler.

I travel a territory with ten states. Huntington is right up there with many of the cities I frequent.

Side note: Backyard and the Peddler are owned by the same person.

Yes, and I'm glad they were able to rebound after the original locations fire issue.

I was VERY impressed by the Peddler when my wife and I went for the first time this week.
