If Pres G were a football coach, I think the honeymoon might be a bit stressed. The timing of this at the same time it's announced that the ranking has fallen is like praising a coach who has more losses than last year, regardless the recruits left to work with.

Student enrollment increases mean something when accompanied by some support of where they came from. Are they due to problems at Owens? Former ITT? Are they students that in previous years would have gone elsewhere? How does the incoming class rank as far as accomplishment. What new researchers have been recruited?

The increase in fund raising is solid as is communicating UT accomplishments but it's the ranking.... That's a scary thing in this day of Universities that exist one day...

It's WAY to early for the BoT to be heaping praise IMO.

She cant reverse everything overnight, praise is based on one year of getting a lot accomplished. Late september is big as the master study on use of campus facilities will be coming out. This is part of downsizing the facilities to match our size and expenses. I believe Scott Park will be the victim of most cuts as main campus and medical campus become the primary campuses for everything.

As I recall increased $ was THE big goal. 11% and increased enrollment certainly indicate a good start.

I think it would be difficult to steer a quasi govt operation in a new direction. She has made a couple of changes to control costs that shows me she is willing to challenge the status quo.
