He's with the new guy doing the radio call on WSPD, 1370. The local CBS TV station, Channel 11, WTOL is broadcasting the game as well and that's where Mark Beier comes into play (play-by-play).

WTOL....wrong on so many levels what you are doing.
Now if you did it for a ROAD game I would be fine. Thanks for encouraging fans to stay home

Not sure why they are doing this unless they are making a bundle on a feed to California.

The game is on local TV in Fresno too.

It's a local channel 11 broadcast, I don't see how this would affect our attendance? It's like the same thing as being on BCSN.

RE: Mark Beier coming out of retirement!
I'm trying to remember when the last time was that a regular season home game was broadcast live on local network TV. Over ten years? It could affect attendance some, but Fresno is a nationally recognized opponent and maybe it isn't a bad idea to give the OTA viewing area a freebie every several years. Seeing how good the stadium looks now might actually attract some new fans, especially if the Rockets perform well.

RE: Mark Beier coming out of retirement!
I consider it a gamble. If they can get a good crowd or at least make it look like a place to be, that people are having fun, then no better advertising than a game on tv. I REALLY would like to see them make for effort to get the tailgaits into the game on time. Every games seems to be an announcer talking about the late arriving crowd. Every other big time program has things going on in the stadium and that would seem to benefit concessions also. Drive the damn food truck into the W concourse if necessary. Put some videos on the big board. This isn't brain surgery (for most).

Most people won't even know that is it's on channel 11. If anything is going to effect attendance on Saturday, it will be the weather.

WTOL is trying something new. They are losing a lot of money on Saturday by not carrying the Alabama/ Ole Miss game in the same time slot.

Hate that this is on local tv...bcsn never helps us when they put UT on their operation as well. Agree that if they wanted to help get behind road games. We don't need local broadcasts.

Robert Shiels commented this afternoon that there are signs that the rain will be getting here in the wee hours and will be out of here by the afternoon! 03-woohoo

RE: Mark Beier coming out of retirement!
Brent said during the Marshall postgame show that Mark would be announcing the Southeast Louisiana men's basketball game on the 17th because Brent was going to be in Montgomery for the bowl game.

Of course those are on the same day and they're going to overlap; football game at 5:30 Eastern, basketball game at 7 Eastern. 03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead

I wonder if there's any reason they couldn't change the start of the basketball game to 2:00 to avoid that time conflict?
