I hope this large line doesn't negatively affect our Rockets. Fresno State is a solid program and they're not just going to let the Rockets run all over them.

These are Division 1 college student-athletes. They pay no attention to such things as gambling lines, alcohol, nicotine or loose women. Their bodies and minds are pure. You will see a laser-like focus on bringing glory to Ol' UT, setting aside crass temptations for the good of the team.

Thanks for the post. When they lined up for the 2 point try, I thought was the right call, win or lose and I still feel that way---a tough loss regardless----back then Fresno State was being heralded as "The Next Boise State" and they usually backed up their "anybody, anywhere, any time" bravado with wins.

My recollection is that Fresno State was the first mid-major to break out and command nation attention and respect. Boise State followed suite and has maintained that status.

That sounded vaguely familiar so I looked it up and your recollection was right on target. Between 1982 and 1991 under coach Jim Sweeney Fresno State had five 10 wins or better seasons that included a number of wins over "big name" schools; however, after another year or two they begin to fade and Sweeney's last three years were losing seasons.

Fresno State hired Pat Hill to turn the program back around about the same time that Boise State moved up to Division I (FBS). Like Marshall, Boise came out of Division II (FCS) like a house on fire with big wins almost immediately whereas it took Pat Hill about five years to get Fresno back on track and by then----the 2000's decade----Boise State had "taken it (its football reputation) to the house" and Fresno was now chasing. This was the situation in 2008 when every good mid-major was hoping to be "the next Boise State". For whatever reason---probably because of more extensive TV saturation or perhaps because of more spectacular "big name wins" ----in terms of national attention Boise State got a lot more mileage with their run in the late 1990s/early 2000s than Fresno got for their run in the 80s/early 1990s.

Fresno State's program has slipped a bit in the last few years, but I still find it hard to believe that the game is carrying a 20 point spread

If Toledo plays like they did against Arkansas State, they will blow Fresno out of the water. If they play like they did against Maine, it will be closer, but Fresno will still lose. I would like to see a solid performance heading towards the BYU game!
