Maryland & Rutgers continue to work on this rivalry thing...
From NJ.com

"Rutgers, Maryland to play football-wrestling doubleheader at Yankee Stadium"

"Billed as the "Big Ten Battle in the Bronx,'' Rutgers will contest a football and wrestling doubleheader against Maryland at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017."

So this sounds interesting. I think Michigan and PSU did something like this (may have been basketball and hockey, don't remember). I hope the football game is good because if MD doesn't improve in wrestling, they are going to get killed. It should be interesting to see how they do this. Anyway, I like it and hope they do more fun things like this.

Things like this are great ideas. It really promotes multiple sports and is an easy way to get fans of the school to see a sport they probably wouldn't have seen.

You're right, Penn State and Michigan had a hockey, men's basketball double-header at MSG last season. I don't know how wrestling will work at Yankee Stadium though.

Should've done a football-soccer doubleheader.

I'm interested to see how many fans show up. Rutgers isn't far so the shouldn't have to many issues. MD on the other hand...not so sure. I think they, will show up for the football portion but if there is a multiple hour break between the events...I suspect the MD contingent for wrestling to be pretty small. As I said in the first post, MD wrestling is pretty bad and really need to improve to make this interesting. I think you are both right. It is good exposure GE and Dexter, I would have liked to have soccer be the other sport but I didn't plan this and the didn't consult me.

Just saw this tweet. Think soccer would be better than wrestling.

FINAL: No. 4 #Terps men's soccer 2, Rutgers 1

Jake Rozhansky scores the game-winner in the 104'.

I wish we'd use Citifield or MSG for some events. Yankee Stadium is an awful venue for football. I like that we're building something up with MD in NYC. Its a smart move.

Rutgers wrestling has become very good. I expect a split that day with Rutgers taking the wrestling event and losing the football game. Although things could change on both counts in a year.

Citi Field is much better suited for a football game in a baseball stadium setup. Thanks to a much bigger field you could have at least some seats that are very good. If they go with temp bleachers along one sideline it could really work well.

its a shame that the Polo Grounds project got scrapped, that would have been absolutely perfect for an event like this - playing a Big Ten rivalry game in the heart of Manhattan, in a stadium actually built for playing football.

Polo Grounds was getting rebuilt? Interesting, but horrible part of the city with limited subway service.

Yankee Stadium is horrible for football. Waste of money as a fan to see a football game there.

Haha, as bad as MD wrestling is right now I'd sign that contract in a heartbeat. I'd gladly take a win in football. 1 less needed to go bowling!

No idea why I said Polo Grounds LOL!!! I was referring to the West Side stadium where the old train tracks were.

I believe the previous AD (Julie Hermann) booked the football game. Hobbs added the wrestling match. Lipstick on a pig, or something.

Yeah we have Hurricane Julie to thank for this one. I actually don't have any gripes with Hobbs just yet.
