Board observations....and advice for posters
I just got back home and settled in from SFL. I got to meet a lot of different people there, hear a lot of opinions and thoughts of many close to program during tailgate, game. Enjoyed hearing the words of many who bleed the black and red.
That said, I have some advice, take it or leave it for posters.
It's great to share your thoughts and opinions. However, spreading rumors on here that you heard from a "source" like your best friend who heard it from a friend or maybe your wife's third cousin's aunt's chiropractor's yoga instructor.Even "suggesting" something. On top of embarrassing yourself, you are causing people to second think a lot of things, possibly for no reason. This could have a major effect on others, their perception. Even the sports program and school itself. I will be the 1st to say I "suggested" something I heard (yeah, pot kettle, black, I know) on a subject once and realized I should not have. Some, at least to me, are border line slander. If you want to be taken seriously by board members and the program itself (it is no secret to most that some within visit here) the don't tell tales like a 13 year old girl fighting with her boyfriend and best friend. Be constructive. That is if you want change and just don't think of this board as a way to release steam and look at it as a tryout for Dan Bernstein's sidekick, or even his job.
And foremost, I have read from a few that they have contacted STF and actually gotten a reply. I commend you for trying it and actually letting people know. However, I personally think what was said between you and him should stay there. ALL OF IT, especially his personal opinions. This isn't FOXNews, Hannity, MSNBC where they play a sound bite of candidate that is 10 seconds of 10 minutes. It isn't fair to anyone and open to interpretation. Especially if you later have to defend what was said and the context. Be happy. This isn't calling your kid's football coach or teacher. You got a response from a D1 AD. And in fact, would you go around putting on Twitter or FB your best friend's, kid's coach or teacher's comments for all to read? Your friend reads it, perhaps their friends or bosses, even the person themselves?
I am in no way indicting anyone, but I also surely hope no one would in the least try to twist words or retell, even make up a story. No, not for their own sake, but for NIU.
Take it as you may.
