His JOB started in early April. The primary function of his job at that time was to assess the skills and abilities of the players remaining and attempt to fill out roster to make the most of the season ahead.

Perfectly stated.

So one bad recruiting season means you don't care and you are just in it for the paycheck...Just silly talk.

Get over it, man.

Doesn't mean Tubby and staff recruited any better if I delete or not.

And grinding on a stock photo is deflection anyway.

I've never met Ned.

Seems like a good fan.

He's a tad off base on this subject though.

No big.

Not deflection, just proof that you are biased and anything you post will be seen in that light.

You even admit to your bias in this thread so why act like you are a neutral source when it is clear you have bias and a Agenda

Whatever makes you feel good, amigo.

Recruiting was average for 2016.

If that's biased and agenda because of a photo on my sig, then so be it.

Look, Tubby probably saw how badly the previous coach was criticized for not winning with 5 star players, or worse yet, having them leave, and decided he wasn't going to make that mistake. Smart man.

did anyone think a new coach at the last minute was going to recruit well ?(after most top players had committed) 01-wingedeagle

here is an idea for the weak minded fans who love to criticize the coach asif it it the right thing to do, wait til we actually play a few games to criticize the new coach03-idea

It was just a question, Ned. Relax. I take it your short answer to the question is "No", given what you wrote.

if the game were played on a sheet of paper or dungeons & dragons roll-playing style, then I'd say you have a point, but thankfully, its not. no, its played on a court with people with brains and skill. A 4-star kid raised by a former NBA 1st rounder, likely has a pretty high basketball IQ and a real opportunity to turn into a very good college basketball player.

On the flip side, we have had a litany of 5 star recruits that certainly didn't perform to the level the sheet of paper said they should. As a matter of fact, I saw 3-star Andre Hollins drop 41 points and outscore 5-star Joe Jackson, 5-star Adonis Thomas, 5 star- Shaq Goodwin, 4-star Tarik Black, and 4-star Chris Crawford COMBINED down in the Bahamas. I saw Tubby take a team of kids that weren't "Memphis good" and punk our highly rated recruiting class embarassingly bad. Highly rated recruits without direction or leadership simply become under-performing, highly dysfunctional malcontents and distractions.

So, your idea of measuring quality is looking at ONE game?

Makes a lot of sense. Or not.

That coached up Minnesota crew finished 23-15 and runners up in the NIT.

SMH

Too bad they didn't win the NIT championship so they can celebrate on Beale Street
