While Troy may have a good team this year, I don't see anything YET that indicates being on the "Up".

You're right. I realized Saturday that the belief the Troy can be the 'Anyone, anywhere, anytime' team that we've been waiting for since 2011. Neal Brown has hired well, is recruiting well, and 2-1 is a likely reality for Troy this weekend.

Defense: 36ppg to 28ppg
Margin of Victory: -15ppg to +0ppg

You'll only find a handful of programs that improved that much. That's being "on the up". We lost to ULM in '14 and were up on them 48-14 at halftime in '15. We struggled with NMSU in the 4th QTR in '14 and were up on them 45-7 at halftime in '15. Those were flashes of what this year can be in year two. It will be very tough to beat Southern Miss, but we're not gonna lay down and let you eat cupcakes on the sideline.

Want some stats? Last 6 quarters of football. Southern Miss has outscored opponents 90-0 and defense has allowed 97 yds. of total offense.

Savannah State is ranked 119th out of 125 FCS teams on the Massey Composite and 581 in all of college football. Cupcake stats are meaningless. Florida held your vaunted Kentucky to 149 yards the entire game and zero points until a garbage touchdown late in the 4th, much different than the 35 they dropped on you guys. I'm not saying you're a bad team, or even that we'll win. If you're not as good as unranked Florida team, which you're clearly not, then Troy has a chance in this matchup. It will at the very least, be a very competitive game.

If you're talking stats, we haven't allowed a rushing touchdown in over 10 quarters of play, including #2 Clemson. If you're boasting about stats versus Savannah State, I guess ours vs Austin Peay count too right? The stats argument in general is silly, I admit. So lets just play the game and see where it goes. No question Troy is improved, but how much we'll see Saturday.

There has to be be a cherry tree on your property...it's ok for you to think S. Miss will overwhelm the Troy defense and even more acceptable to believe your defense will stymie the Trojan offense. It may be one or two new cusa fanbases that can speak to a Troy offense under NB. It won't happen.

It's ok that you don't get it. We had a lame duck head coach (albeit I have a ton of respect for Larry Blakeney) from 2011 through 2014. He had been our head coach since the 90's and has since retired. We got a new coaching staff in '15 and we are certainly "on the up". We are much better than we were in '14. I expect a respectable showing from Troy on Saturday, if not a win.
