At the press conference, the Fire Director says it was 9 who perished and one at the hospital.

The family says it was 11.

Cops, Firefighters, paramedics etc

I can't imagine what it would be like to be the first one to find a house full of kids dead regardless of whether it was fire, homicide or a car crash.

1972 ? Very well could be that damn aluminum wiring. Biggest building mistake ever.

If you live in a building constructed in the mid 60s to mid 70s have it inspected for aluminum wiring.

Not uncommon in some parts of Memphis for several generations of family to live in same building

tragic. I don't understand how so many got trapped and died.

But to answer the question why so many lived there....

“She always tried to help everybody,” Whitmore said. “I can’t believe this.”

Whitmore said her sister had lived in the house with friends for the past few years.

Eloise Futrell was grandmother to all of the children who died.

Such a tragic event. It's sad to hear of anyone losing their life but even more so when children are involved.
