RE: I SUGGEST everyone read this!
Can someone please explain what the heck was posted anywhere on this board since Jim posted that clean up thread last week that warraned another thread on this?

BTW, are we no longer allowed to use emoticons like:

01-scoutRay Watts

or will that hurt anyone's feelings or make them feel bad?

Hypothetically, if we're in a close game and Coach Tuberville, peace be upon him, decides to let Gantz try a 65 yard field goal and I am posting in the game thread and write something like, "What the f*ck is this idiot thinking?", is that a ban-able offense?

(I typically don't write stuff that dramatic, but for an example)

Seriously, what are the lines we can't cross?

I think "wtf is he thinking?" Is fine. Leave out the idiot part and I'm good.

This is the kind of passive aggressive bs that is getting old and frankly, not funny.
I'm not sure how much clearer I can make it. If you can't figure out how to behave like an adult, we'll try to help you understand. That simple.

There were several unrelated posts over the weekend where folks injected their jabs at the mods regarding my thread last week. BJ obviously had read one too many this morning.

Is this not what you are trying to accomplish though? BJ even bolded the part that says we can't criticize Student Athletes or School Administration. I mean if you're going to remove the ability to criticize anything are you not effectively creating a safe space?

This is a sports message board. Sports is bitching about your team and relishing in their victories and enjoying experiences. It's almost as if you've never visited another board. Steeler boards shut down the day after a loss. Pats fans were trying to get Brady benched two years ago. Broncos fans were calling for Peyton's head. This happens in every fanbase. It's not new. It's normal. It's the cycle of sports. If we go 12-0 this year there won't be any complaining and nothing but praise for our student athletes and administration. You just have to let it happen naturally. Censoring people and trying to protect the people this very board is intended to discuss isn't the way to get it to calm down.

I mean if we're down 35-7 at halftime Thursday who can I criticize then? Are Tommy T and the players still off limits? Do I just yell at the clouds and blame them? Do I just talk about how great UH is?

I'll say it one last time and then you can debate it with yourself. ***** and relish all you like. Just keep it civil. Doesn't mean you won't offend people with your opinions. You'll see I voiced critique of our "contain pass rush" from this past weekend. And this is me complaining after a win! I don't buy that strategy and I will complain about it. I'm just not going to call the coaches bad names about it. Just an example. It's not that hard.

I do believe we should aim a tick higher than a Steeler, Broncos, or Pats board. If for no other reason than that's pro and this is college. I do believe there is a difference. There is a reason I love the Bengals, watch every game and root as hard as anyone for them. But I don't go to the games. Not my crowd, for the most part. (plenty of exceptions obviously, but overall, not my scene).

Will all posters get a trophy such as a star for good behavior? I hope so. It is great to be in a fantasy without having to resort to drugs.

It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood
A wonderful day to say you could
Could you would you
Won't you be my neighbor

Thanks Doss. Another great example of the jabs that are unnecessary and unfunny.

I think it's been said clearly from the beginning by the mods. Constructive criticism and debate is good.

What was TT thinking going for a 65 yard FG? it's 4th and 3, either go for it or try to pin them deep and play D... is much easier to read and discuss than profanity, name-calling, etc.

The behavior the mods are trying to curtail has driven away from this board some good posters.

Thank you Mods for trying to clean the Bog up. What do these folks not understand??
1. Constructive Criticism
2. Mature postings
3. Keep it Civil
4. Good debate is excellent, but keep it mature/clean or respect your opposition.
I mean,How many times do I have to read "Fire Tubs": ( Repetition ) or read cuss words. Write a clear observation to make your point, but keep out the filthy language. Let's pack Nippert Stadium on Thursday night. Go Bearcats !

I think this is more than likely directed at a very small population on this board, but that's the thing, they tend to be the loudest.

RE: I SUGGEST everyone read this!
I have come to the point where saying "Fire the coach!" is of little use.

"We" are not the ones who make such a decision... The AD and the President of the University are. And, not to be derisive, but they are not looking to the fans...especially the fans on a free board...for their input. We could get torches and pitchforks out and march on the campus and I don't think it would carry any weight. And probably it shouldn't.

Let's be honest... There are all sorts of things WE don't know. Contractual obligations, behind the scenes information, etc... And more often than not, our "dream" candidates to replace a coach are not feasible for one or more reasons.

We have to trust Bohn and Davenport. We really have no other option.

1. So to make sure I get it...we cannot at any point say "fire tubs". Would this include suggesting it is time for him to retire or suggesting it is time for the school to 'move on' and find another coach?

(BJUnklFkr) To me it all seems the same.

2. We CAN be critical of him but that criticism cannot include calling him names/personal attacks? Correct?

(BJUnklFkr) Of course. I guess we did a poor job conveying that point, since a lot of guys on here have already asked, or seemed unclear about that.

3. You wrote, 'don't mistake what we said with serving/drinking koolaid'. I don't understand what you are saying here and I would like an example or two.

(BJUnklFkr) Some people (never mind names) seem to swing from one extreme to the other, by assuming by toning the criticism down, implies posts should only be sunshine and lollipops. Look no further than the "safe space" and "gold star" posts in here.

4. Would the Fire Tubs Muzzle (FTM) be lifted if we end up say, 3-9 with some horrifically bad losses?

(BJUnklFkr) I've given my take on that one, and the other mods might not agree. Suppose we lose the next four to go 2-4. I think starting that discussion would be fair game at that point. We just think it's ridiculous to see this talk during the first game of the season

thanks in advance

edit: You can PM the answers to each of my questions or you can post them here. Your call, but it may be beneficial to post the answers here for all to see.

I think as long as you are not being a total douche bag and remembering to take your ADHD meds you will be pretty safe posting on here.

It's really common sense fellas, not sure why there is such an outcry.

"I noticed that also, but I think that is probably due to a good performance at Purdue."

It would have been really interesting to see how all of this would have played out if we had been trashed by Purdue. If that had happened what other conclusion could there have been other than it would be time for CTT to go. We are ALL now hoping Purdue was a display of good things to come.
