Question for Cincy re: Nippert
Nippert held 35,097.

Then the recent $87M project added a bunch of premium seats.

Capacity is now listed at 40,000.

However, when I look at the ticket purchase map, there are barely 1200 dots added in the new section.

So what's the real number? 36,300?

RE: Question for Cincy re: Nippert
It's really 40k. Major part of the Reno was luxury boxes which probably aren't visible where you're looking.

It's 27,500 after expansion. That 35,097 was a fabrication to begin with. In truth, Nippert is no larger than average Texas high school stadium. Please don't tell anyone.

Welp, I have been banned from the Cincy site. All I can do is edit old posts I made.

Probably the first time anyone with a +214 rep has been banned, I'm guessing.

Those of you who know me from the AAC board know I congratulate Cincy when it does well.

Anyway, wanted to wish you a good game Thursday night. May the best team win, and may there be no major injuries.

16 seats per suite. 3700 seats needed to reach 40K.

So Cincy built 230 suites. Sounds legit.

You got us. It's all a ruse. You won't have to worry about it after this year though since we will be in the Big 12, and you will still be in the AAC.

Side note: quit trolling us. Find a site dedicated to pathetic trolls and you'll be an all star. Consider this a warning, because you never come here to contribute anything worthwhile, only to talk sh*t.

Am I dreaming, or haven't I read discussions on this very topic (whether the expansion truly added 5,000 seats) between Cincy fans on this board?

Sounds to me that the thread you're referencing would be a good starting point, wouldn't you say? It's likely chock full of all the information you need.

The renovation included reorganizing the current seating arrangement to fit 40,000 at what is considered full capacity by also selling standing-room and concourse tickets along with the roughly 2,200 added by the new structure on the west side of the stadium. We have actually reached + capacity twice since the renovation as well...and since the AD has a policy to report gate numbers and not tickets sold (ask our former assistant director of ticketing and group sales who still comes on the board regularly) those are legitimate figures. There is already an architect approved expansion plan for the stadium that will boost capacity to 52,575 should the need arise by rebuilding the East Pavilion and extending both second decks further south.

Now, continue on trying to find facts that you believe don't fit your agenda to troll us on 04-cheers

Yes you have, so why are you asking?

We now know that Houston has suddenly become the greatest program in the history of college football, and no other school can compare with anything they do.

However, there is no need for you to worry about the capacity of Nippert Stadium.

You can find all this information from UC's own press releases if you really feel like being informed (as opposed to appearing like you are trying to troll).

There is a club seat section, which holds 1,100. Those are the dots you say you are seeing. In addition, there are 53 suites of varying capacity. There are no dots for those seats. The new addition also has a patio, press box and common area.

I'm not clear what point you are trying to make, but it appears you are comparing apples and oranges. Houston built from scratch. Cincinnati built an addition to one side of its stadium. My guess is a P5 invite prompts an addition in the other side, but until then, it's not needed.

I've made no secret of my opinion that Nippert seating capacity is about 37,500. But for the purposes of this discussion, it makes no difference if it's 37,500 or 40,000.

RE: Question for Cincy re: Nippert
The suites are an interesting problem in that they are not "seats" in a propper sense but do have a max. occupancy. But each suite may contain anywhere between one and a dozen people at a time.

The other issue is Standing Room Only. My understanding was that the Nippert footprint was expanded to allow for more gates and to accommodate SRO that was not allowed under fire-code in the old footprint. So the 40k number is a "max" number that allows for the maximum occupancy of the suites plus a max of SRO tickets.

Levi's Stadium has 176 suites by the way. Pales in comparison to Nippert.

Let me try to simplify for you. We added PREMIUM seating. The almost 4,000 seats require a MINIMUM annual fee of $5,000.

New stadiums are not about just seats but about revenue per seat.

Adding 4,000 PREMIUM seats generates what 15,000 or more general level seats generate.

Let me try it in your vernacular: Which is worth more 10 old rusted Ford pickups or a BMW Series 7?

You are spot on about the value of a premium seat vs. a seat we commoners use. But you are off about the addition of 4,000 premium seats. That didn't happen.

I suspect any addition to the east side will be fairly similar to what we see on the west side in terms of premium seating. That will happen only with P5 invite, otherwise there is no point.

I know he's not coming back but I was curious about Houston's 40,000 seat TDECU stadium. From Wikipedia:

26 suites
42 loge boxes
766 club seats
2 suite decks
4 party decks

Not much different than Nippert. Someone explain to me what "Levi's Stadium" is.

Yeah, I guess I missed his point on that one.

Apparently, TDECU opened to much controversy over possible mismanagement of funds and improper contract award to the concession vendor.
