3rd game in a row LaRussa has played. Bentley hasn't seen the field since Hampton. If SB is the future wonder why a walk on is getting snaps?
I have a feeling we won't see SB again until the O line improves on pass blocking.

To be fair, I got one, that stated "that is ^%%$#@, you are too doom and gloom about our offense".
I have in the past gotten ones that challenged my assessment of Shuler Bentley, and my characterization of our offense as "sandlot".

Agree. Tonight was not the time to put SB in. They'd have killed him.

I haven't got one today but I am sure I will have one by Monday morning for the new poll I created. 04-cheers

RE: NC State Discussion
I'm thinking Wilder is just trying to find out what he has in LaRussa. Get him some reps and find out if he's a viable backup moving forward. No reason to think he has moved past SB.

Random thoughts:

David Washington was very bad tonight. His accuracy was just awful. Even some of the big plays were really more a reflection of the WR making a play than an accurate throw.

The Oline- especially the tackles 70 & 78 - were very bad. Pressure most of the night and those guys were beaten consistently. Making it worse was watching the TE being left in to double team and watching that get beat.

The play calling was predictable and mundane. Even small wrinkles were very effective when they were used - like the play action inside handoff, quick pass to Vaughn. The play calling could learn a lesson from how NC ST called their game.

The DLine was very good, especially early when they were fresh.

This Defense is easily the best we've ever had. I'd like to see what they can do when the game flow works in their favor.

Was there, thought DW made some nice sideline throws, but other times it seems he is just flinging the ball up and hoping someone would catch it. But I also bet he is getting tired of having not time to throw. The Wolfpack QB completed 24 of 28, half of the time he had forever to throw and find someone open.
Lawry just has no room to run, they obviously keyed on him.
In the end, it seems we are at the point where our O and d lines are inferior to our opposition.
Thought Cate did a good job, he was probably told to kick it away from their returner and he did just that.
Nine games left, might be able to win four.

why embarrassing?

I don't think it was embarrassing, and that is what bothers me.

We did exactly what I thought we should, short passes, some slants over the middle, no INT's and DW was over 50%
The offensive game plan was sound. We rolled up 321 yards.

On defense, we held the best offense we will see all season to 470 yards. We held a future NFL RB to under 100 yards.
Although they started to wear down, the defense played well.

We played about as well as could be expected given our weakness at OL and a QB still getting his feet wet. Proper game plan, no obvious coaching missteps, we protected the ball, and there was hustle and intensity on both sides of the ball.

What bothers me is that It wasn't enough, not nearly enough......

It is a nice atmosphere, but State fans were pretty nonchalant, can't blame them. I talked to a few of them and they are still mad about losing to ECU.

The only thing worse for them is losing to Carolina. ECU will leave a mark for a while.

If dw and the oline gained some confidence from this game, then we got what we needed from this game.

Is LaRussa better than Bentley now? Shocked to see him play but not Shuler.

You put App St. Ga. St. Ga. Southern in this game and it's much closer. It boils down to who we are recruiting and it's not FBS caliber players. Maybe a couple of skill players but our lines cannot compete at this level. If Charlotte beats us this year I will not be surprised.

I don't know the answer to that, as it is almost a comparison of apples and oranges,
LaRussa is quick and can throw on the run. Bentley is a pocket passer with a major league arm.

After watching the pressure that DW has had on him in the last two games, I would assume that SB would not have time to play to his strengths, hence LaRussa getting the time.
Another poster put it aptly by saying something like "with our OL, Bentley could get killed"

Bentley would have been a sitting duck especially with our OL. Lack of recruiting by Dee killed us.
