I seem to remember UConn winning the conference last year......

You won the conference tournament. Temple won the conference.

I think you mean that Temple lost in the conference tournament as a one-seed.

Temple got a trophy as the conference champion. UConn got a trophy as the conference tournament champion.

Temple got a trip to the NIT and UCONN got a trip to the NCAA?

I'm sure Kansas will be thrilled to find out that they were an NCAA men's basketball champion last year too.

I wasn't talking about the product itself, although our out of conference schedule is again 100% not interesting. I'm talking about the overall environment. Nobody goes. The arena is dead. All of the excitement and pride that exists with football vanishes. It feels 100% bush league. There's a reason every other AAC team makes fun of UH basketball; because it's easy.

Clearly he was talking auto-bids.

I get it. As you know, SMU is the exact opposite. But if the product is there, more will go to support, and if more go to support, the atmosphere will get better.

Temple came in first in the regular season for the American. UConn won the American tournament. Temple went to the NCAA's as a 12 seed and lost to 5 seed Iowa in overtime. We also beat UConn twice during the regular season, and lost to them in the conference tournament.

That's my bad. I was talking autobid. My point being I always considered the tourney champs as the league champs. Regular season champ gets you a #1 seed.

RE: Basketball season.
Temple has done both and winning a regular season title is much harder/much more a true saying of champion (although even in that with unbalanced schedules you can argue) than winning a conference tournament. I'm happy they do conference tournaments both for viewing and hope some years but aside from how the bid is given the regular season is the fuller title and why they give the title to the Reg season winner

RE: Basketball season.
I understand the argument well if it means more a lot of good it does you sitting home if you lack a resume and someone else wins the conference tournament which is true but the bid to NCAA isn't given to the conference tournament winner based on merit it is about revenue
