RE: Week 2 Attendance
Toledo had the best home opener crowd for an FCS school I can remember. The students were loud and stayed pretty late! We may break capacity a couple of times! On the up and up!!!!

I suspect my memory (though fading fast) goes back a bit further than yours because I remember the 2000 home opener against Weber State that drew well over 30,000----back in 2000 and 2001 they regularly had to bring in temporary bleacher type seating to increase the seating capacity Glass Bowl. They put these behind the north end zone and on parts of the wide concourse that runs between the lower bowl and the upper deck of the east side all the way around the south end zone. Of course the Weber State game was the week after Toledo opened the season on the road with a dominating win over Penn State.

As to last night, the students sections were indeed packed but there were a few empty seats scattered throughout the rest of the stands.

The early 2000 attendances will never be back at the GB until we upgrade to more seating. I was just pleasently surprised at who showed up on a day where it had been raining every couple of hours. There is no more low profile name than Maine. Besides midweek games we should outdraw this game from here on. FRESNO- sadly our best home game OOC, BG- homecoming, CMU- they may be getting votes, OHIO- midweek, Ball State- senior night

RE: Week 2 Attendance
Miami had a 3:30 start. A little after 3:00 a big storm hit with thunder and lightening. The heavy rains pushed through but lightening continued for a couple of hours, and the game started at 6:15. At that time the crowd was maybe 2500 but maybe a couple thousand more showed up as the skys cleared and people realized they were finally playing. I was curious what would be reported. As I was walking down to the stadium about 3:15 I passed a couple thousand people heading back to their cars or dorms.

Unfortunately, the longrange forecast for this Saturday at 3:30 is the same.

Nobody did week 3 attendance? Come on slackers! Also I think last year someone did a running average of each team. That effort by you go-getters was much appreciated!

CMU's attendance for UNLV was officially listed at 19,922. Everyone who went to the game thinks that is at least 3,000 lower than actual, but take it FWIW.

Agree.

There were some empty seats, but 10k???? Really?

I would have guessed the crowd at 23 - 24K.

RE: Week 2 Attendance
I don't understand MAC attendance. Some stadiums are a quarter full and they report half. Others are 3/4 full and they report half.

Bias aside, I was at the CMU-UNLV game and it was the biggest crowd I have seen in some time.I would have guessed roughly 25K. Then again, watching the first game on TV against Presbyterian, I have no idea how there were only 16K. It looked jammed and even coach Bono said it was the biggest turnout he had seen.

RE: Week 2 Attendance
MAC attendance figures each week... one of life's great mysteries.

Like why did Yankee Doodle name the feather in his hat macaroni?

Or why did Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Do stairs go up? Or down?

The world may never know how MAC attendance is calculated....
