RE: SEC Games Week 2 Instant Thread
Would love to see this again next week, but I don't think it will happen. Vandy @ Georgia Tech looks like a tough win. South Carolina hasn't looked very good yet and takes on a decent ECU; and while I'd normally not mention any SEC team hosting New Mexico State, I'm not sure Kentucky can do anything right at this point. The other 3 non-conference games shouldn't be an issue though.

Hogs and Vols get some good P5 wins .

LSU finally found a QB and might finally be respectable on offense

Was hoping South Carolina would get another win but Mississippi State came to play.

Florida is gonna be a handful again.

Did Mizzou win big? How? I keep missing the highlights on SEC Now.

Good win for your Hogs, crazy game with both teams essentially having chances to seal the deal in regulation and not being able to slam the door on the opposing team.

If this Arkansas team gets better as the year goes on (like they have seemed to do under Bielema) then I'd think 8-4 is very realistic.

As for my Frogs, we gotta correct turnover margin. -3 thus far on the season with our defense only forcing 1 through two games.

I'm happy the Hawgs pulled it out. The coaching seemed a little suspect considering Brett's history, but it is a step in the right direction.

I was glad to see Tennessee come to life, but Dobbs still made way too many poor throws. Is there nobody at Tennessee who can work with him? His talent level is obviously strong, but the fundamentals and decision making are still lacking.

Great rebound week for the SEC. Bama is still rolling. One question, can the SEC help Kentucky out & take Florida off their schedule? After what, 3 decades, it's getting ridiculous.

Kentucky hasn't really had a competitive football program but maybe two or three brief interludes since the 60's. Fran Curci had a competitive program in the early 70's and Hal Mumme cheated them into competitiveness briefly 2 decades later.

Tennessee holds them in the East by claiming them as a big rivalry but like the Florida series Tennessee holds an overwhelming lead in the series. Alabama once tried to claim Vanderbilt as a permanent rival (when we split into divisions) but even they couldn't pull that off with a straight face.

It is what it is. Kentucky is a basketball school. That's why Bear Bryant left UK. He won the SEC and got a watch (literally). The same year Rupp won the SEC and got a new car. Bear said that's when he knew to leave.

So an unranked Arkansas team beat a Top 15 ranked team in double over time...can't wait for the Hogs to jump 25-30 spots in the polls and be ranked #11 in this next poll right? That's how it works isn't it? They don't just do that for media darlings right? 03-wink

Agreed. All the Vols can do is out athlete opponents. There isn't anyone on offense that has any idea what they are doing in terms of development.

Been a while since Mizzou hung 60 points on someone, but they looked much better yesterday. QB had an epic game. Almost 500 yards passing and five TDs. While I realize this is not an SEC squad we beat yesterday, they are a MAC school. I guess time will tell.04-cheers

The Cats have pulled some upsets against LSU & Tennessee (with a WR playing QB even) but not the Gators. Brooks had them playing some good football as well. I thought Stoops was going to turn things around with the enhanced recruiting but it doesn't seem that he can develop the talent. As for Bear, I don't think that they would make that same decision today. Today I think both coaches would have gotten the Caddy's.

Whomever coaches Kentucky has got to be given time....Give Stoops 6-10 years to see what he can do with Kentucky.

Kenny Hill should be running bleachers all day today.

Ordinarily I would agree with this in general but in Stoops case the play on the field hasn't improved despite the improved recruiting. They have missed on some key recruits. They have been bringing in top 30 classes so the talent alone should be enough to beat Southern Miss. The last two years they started fast & finished with frost bite. This year they are starting off cold. They need to show signs of improvement & make a bowl this year. I can't see being the third best team in the state sitting to well in Lexington. I think part of their problem is Barnhart, their AD. Outside of Calipari & perhaps Brooks, he has made questionable hires.

For sure, definitely put the frogs in a bad field position situation for Arkansas' final drive. At the same time TCUs D still did absolutely nothing that drive.

I'm sure Arkansas field goal kicker would have felt horrible if the hogs didn't end up winning, 22 yard missed field goal was a huge surprise.

Gonna be a long year for SCar. 6-6 best case scenario.

Gamecock the knocks on Muschamp at Florida, and as DC at Auburn were that he was not a disciplinarian and that he didn't communicate well with the other coaches (other than the head coach, but then Malzahn is not a great communicator either). Muschamp's time with Tubby was fine here. But Tubberville actually did a great job of keeping his coaches on the same page, communicating what he expected, and holding them accountable.

Will just doesn't have the personal discipline required to orient all spheres of a program.

I think your Gamecocks should be looking around for an up and coming, but proven, young head coach. But that's my opinion.

Well, 5 years ago Rich Brooks, who also built Oregon, had them consistently winning 6 games per season and competing on the field with LSU etc.

I don't think Stoops has that in him.

Muschamp was a horrendous mistake.

While I take no pleasure in seeing USC suffer I do take a lot of pleasure in watching Will fall into it.

We have bad issues with our special teams. Everything from field goal kicking to the kicking off. The only bright spot is the punter.
