Did you actually read the quotes? None of those are offensive. If you're offended by them you have a stick up your ass and need to unwind. So sensitive.

I imagine by "lazy" he meant "complacent", and I agree to some extent that we are complacent about certain things in this country. I did not find his address in Laos to be offensive.

Not offended but call him a POS/clown over it? Ignore the message and resort to name calling?
Sounds like you were.... triggered...

I think it is indicative of his level of tone deafness. Hell, he is in Laos and instead of talking development of any kind he is talking about the wrong type of development.
Laotians are not as blessed. But, good think we have an idiot to go around and parade the fact that we have first world problems.

RE: In Laos, Obama Repeatedly Calls Americans ‘Lazy
“Usually when you see the environment destroyed, it’s not because it’s necessary for development,” Obama said. “It’s usually because we’re being lazy and we’re not being as creative as we could be about how to do it in a smarter, more sustainable way.”
I'm not offended by that. First, it's not specific to US. I DO disagree with it though. It's more likely that we're focused on something else and 'sustainability' comes later... The alligator gar and Asian carp or Nuclear weapons are examples of times where we simply misjudged the impact. The people who suggested those things weren't lazy or uncreative... they simply couldn't imagine every possibility. Compare our lakes and rivers to say China. Are we lazy or uncreative, or are they??
“If you’re in the United States, sometimes you can feel lazy and think we’re so big we don’t have to really know anything about other people.”
I find that a little offensive. I think it's an attempt to be self-deprecating, but by the same token, I speak to many Europeans who think solutions to lots of problems are easy because they live within a few hundred miles of everyone in their country and/or there are many more commonalities. Knowing about someone 500 miles away, much less 2,000 for them means knowing a VASTLY different culture and history and usually, language. In the US, that's still an American. I would have probably followed it by something saying 'similarly, because we are so vast and diverse... appearances about our intentions to the outside are sometimes misconstrued for those same reasons.'
I don't get too worked up about it, but I think it's pandering. It's potentially harmful in that someone seeking to gin up anti-American sentiment is going to say see... even their President admits they're lazy and don't care about understanding other cultures... which is patently false. We are among the most diverse nations, culturally in the history of the world.

He could not be more wrong. In the USA one is 99.9999999% more likely to know, work with, go to school, be friends with, marry etc., someone of a different race/ethnicity, from a different country, different religion etc., than .........maybe a country like Laos.
“The United States is and can be a great force for good in the world. But because we’re such a big country, we haven’t always had to know about other parts of the world,” he said. “If you’re in the United States, sometimes you can feel lazy and think we’re so big we don’t have to really know anything about other people.”
