Playing Down
I was reading an article on NDSU having a hard time scheduling future P5 games.
According to the article B1G has stopped scheduling FCS in the future.
They are concentrating on playing more top FCS non conference games .
Looks like FCS will have the lower payout G5 games but not the P5 in the future.
This could help FCS or hurt it hard to say .
NDSU probably gets more out of a H&H with Montana than a game at MTSU.

I see the P5 playing only home games against G5 in the near future.
FBS vs FCS won't go away but it will be G5 vs FCS in the future.
P5 vs G5 won't go away but it will be at the P5 exclusively .
P5 plays 8 or nine conference one H&H P5 and one G5 buy game typically in the future.

G5 8 conference one FCS one P5 a G5 H&H .
Obviously H&H is two games if that is confusing it would be half of two H&H series .

It makes sense if you consider D1 three divisions now even if it isn't official.

Some P5s don't schedule away games at G5's, but some do. There are reasons why some do.

1) Recruiting. FIU and FAU will probably get P5 home games without problems

2) Money. I think we're seeing the 'high water mark' for some P5 programs financially. I'm not talking about Alabama and UT, but rather the Rutgers', the Boston Colleges, the Indianas. They'll continue to occasionally schedule at G5 teams. Also note that the coaching salaries will probably continue to rise too which will cause increasing pressure on P5 budgets, especially those that aren't in the top 20 supported programs. Paradoxically, if P5's start to limit FCS scheduling, that will increase the competition for payday games from the G5, thus raising the price.

3) Fan support. Sometimes, P5s will schedule at a G5 for purposes of avoiding money payouts while keeping the team close to home.

---

Now for the FCS issue. Remember that there are G5 teams that only schedule 1 or sometimes 0 P5 teams. Basically, any G5 scheduling a payday game will need a FCS game to balance their home schedule. They'll continue to need FCS games.

---

1) P5 teams at G5 teams will continue to be rare, but they won't go away.
2) P5 teams will insist on 7 home games a year. So long as they do, the system stays pretty much the same. Any attempt by the P5 to limit the number of FCS games will just increase the price of payouts for G5 teams. This might not result in more money for the FCS teams seeing as the big paydays come from the big schools.

---

Until the P5 decides to limit home games to 6 per year, we're all going to be just fine as an overall group. There are individual FCS schools that will have difficulty scheduling games (NDSU would be one I would never recommend a FBS team schedule - playing NDSU is seen as the same as playing Duquesne in FBS world - not fair - but them's the brakes) as well as G5 teams that will have special trouble getting home games with P5's.

RE: Playing Down
We are in a time of rapid change like CFP money and conference network money adds twenty million dollars a year.
The P5 initiatives add to the pressure and speed up the differences.

Think about it the conference network's want more home games.
When they schedule them years in advance they have no idea a G5 is going to be 10-2 the year before.
