Season ticket numbers....
Marshall AD was on radio call in show yesterday. He said he didn't have an updated exact number, but as of 10 days ago, Marshall had sold over 14,000 season tickets.

14,000 is a good number for us.

How has everyone else done on season ticket numbers?

That's a good number too. Your number is more impressive than ours when you consider how young your program is.

Guessing that is the most you guys can sell with the size of the current stadium?

ODU has SOLD OUT the number of season tickets the University has allotted every year. The Max number of season tickets that were available was two years ago when they allowed 15K.

This year they upped the number of student tickets available to 4,500..... I'm not sure what the old number was, however it was mentioned on another thread it was in the 2.5K range. I honestly do not know.

IMO, I believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg for ticket demand. Regardless of this years record there will be an increase for the next three years automatically. The main reason is because of the home opponents that we will be playing at SB Ballard in 2017 (UNC) and 2018 (VA Tech). The 2019 season will see a huge increase in the demand for tickets because we will open the NEW STADIUM and play East Carolina at home. I also believe if we have any success at all the demand will go up from there as the schedule for 2020 and beyond will have some great home games.

The Future is VERY BRIGHT for Monarch Nation.

2017 ODU Schedule
09/02 - Albany
09/09 - at UMass
09/16 - North Carolina @ Forman Field
09/23 - at Virginia Tech

2018 ODU Schedule
09/08 - VMI
09/22 - Virginia Tech @ Forman Field
09/29 - at East Carolina
11/17 - at Virginia

2019 ODU Schedule OPENNING of the NEW STADIUM
09/07 - at Virginia Tech
09/14 - Buffalo @ the NEW Forman Field
09/28 - East Carolina @ the NEW Forman Field

2020 ODU Schedule
09/12 - at Buffalo
09/19 - Wake Forest @ the NEW Forman Field
09/26 - at North Carolina
11/21 - Virginia @ the NEW Forman Field

14k is normal as of two weeks ago. We'll be at 15k+ come Saturday. In the last 10 years or so we have been typically anywhere between the 14-17k range for annual season ticket sales.

Not even Julian Assange could pry the numbers from the MT office.

Usually means its not a number to be proud of.

15,000 season tickets is a solid number for a G5 school though. I'll take that for now, but we definitely need to build on it and try to get to 20,000 consistently.

RE: Season ticket numbers....
I don't have the exact numbers but I would think Western is pushing 11k or more. I heard 10k somewhere/someone in our last year in the SBC.....

Article from a few years ago

WKU's 7-5 record one year ago appears to have led to more Topper fans opening their wallets for season tickets.

WKU has sold 8,012 football season ticket packages through Thursday, Athletics Director Todd Stewart said.

That figure represents the highest number of season tickets sold since 2008, when WKU sold 8,648 season ticket packages.

It also reverses a downward trend in recent years for Topper season ticket sales. WKU sold 7,060 season ticket packages in 2011 after selling 7,342 in 2010 and 7,506 in 2009.

We have 7 home games this year with some great schools coming in. Our season tickets should be much higher. I think our numbers are crappy compared to what they should be but it is what it is.

This is what happens when you have 10k empty seats each game.

We have a good walk up crowd because people know they can get a ticket on game day.

So when I say the same thing about expanding beyond you fanbase ...

you say one thing.

Then turn around and agree with it in another topic (this one). There is NOTHING the average fan can do that is as important as buying season tickets. A lot of walk up tickets are discounted ....factory buys a bundle at a discounted price and give them away to workers. Or the school has A "deal" for a few games.

You build a budget off the back of season tickets...it's the one thing that in EACH of our school's control. You hurt that by expanding 40% more than you need 80% of the time.

I'm glad to see you finally admit that

Can't agree with you YG. We'll have 40,000 for Louisville in two weeks with total gate over $1.5MM for that game. That will probably be the highest grossing gate in the conference this year by a half million dollars. That's 2 1/2 times a team's TV revenue, that's a huge advantage due to capacity.

You may not use it all the time, but it's nice to have.

RE: Season ticket numbers....
Great for the times you need it but I still think having a rent-A-stadium close by is the way to go. At least it is for Western...

Don't have a clue what it cost Western to get the NFL stadium in Nashville but the 48k in there paid for it and still left a ton of money for Western.

If you take away the 8,000 or so students and VIP/ player/team that got in free the gate was still in the 2 million range. Average ticket price was about $50. Can't really remember the actual price but I believe our tickets cost $45 and that was a mid range ticket. This was a Western home game but not in our season ticket package

Of course having a stadium that could handle that type of crowd and getting up to 75 to 85% full is what each of our schools hope to get to. Most CUSA schools have 30+ years under their belt and still can't get close to filling 40k other than that rare game

You throw up the time thing a lot. We were selling out a 28,000 seat stadium in our 1-AA days. We were selling out our 28,000 seat stadium when we first moved up, that's why it's 38,000 now.

UTSA is at ~11K this year. We peaked at ~14.5K in 2013 and dropped ever since. It looks like the shine has worn off the new program and folks want a winner. Looking to start turning the corner tomorrow with a win @CSU.

That would be a good win for you and the conference. Good luck.
