So the last NFL game we saw....
Was Denver vs Carolina. And the first game we see this year is...Denver vs Carolina. I'm just glad football is back. So since this is the first game:
Any CUSA player involved tonight? I know we have Devon Johnson on the Panthers but he's IR.
Who's gonna win the Superbowl rematch? I'm guessing Carolina for the simple fact the QB situation at Denver and Carolina started hot last year and Denver took a while to gear up.
Do these teams have what it takes to get to the big game again?
Again, I think Carolina does. They looked like the only team last year that was having fun out there playing a game.
Who's your favorite NFL team?
I'm not a fan of Carolina, necessarily, but a game is more fun to watch when the team is having fun playing it. I'm probably a little bandwagonish on the Panthers, but being a lifetime Raiders fan will do that to a lot of people. Always have to find a surrogate team.

Former Tech DT Vernon Butler was the Panthers first round pick. He should see some action. Former Tech DE Vontarrius Dora is on the Broncos practice squad so he won't be suiting up tonight.
Denver
No
New Orleans

Any CUSA player involved tonight? Jordan Taylor, from Rice, is on the Broncos. He's their #4 or 5 WR. Gary Kubiak's son, Klein, played at Rice, and is currently a scout for the Broncos.
Who's gonna win the Superbowl rematch? Carolina
Do these teams have what it takes to get to the big game again?
Carolina... I'm not even sure if Denver is the favorite in their division!
Who's your favorite NFL team?
Patriots.. Massachusetts born and bred.

Well it's in the books for Denver. Hell of a finish. Guy makes the game winning field goal for Carolina, then the timeout comes through, then he misses it. Classic icing the kicker. I'm glad it ended up a better game to watch. I just can't stand anything about ol' horseteeth, Gary Busey lookin Elway so I can't root for Denver at all.

From what I saw tonight the NFL refs don't call helmet to helmet hits to the QB. Newton was hit on the helmet three times and not one was called.

If one team has to miss a field goal at your place for you to get the win, you're not that good.

Four very visible, intentional targeting helmet to helmet blows by Denver, on the league MVP.
Don't really care who won, but cannot wait to hear the apologists trying to straight face spin that the NFL gives a rip about player safety.

This is going to be very hard for the league to ignore since they are all about "player safety".

Try explaining that to MUTS Of course we did have to miss 5 FGs to lose.

As another lifetime Raiders fan, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel of suck. The past 14 years have been hard being a football fan. Thankfully in 2009 ODU got a football team and I had someone else to follow. The past several years I have been way more into ODU football and haven't paid a ton of attention to the NFL besides my fantasy team. Last year my interest in the NFL returned and this year there is finally legitimate hope at a playoff spot. I don't know if we make the playoffs but we should have the first winning season in 14 years and finally end this streak.

Hits on Cam
To be fair the one hit was called but there were offsetting penalties because Cam got called for intentional grounding.

I almost gave up after fumblegate and not getting into the Superbowl and then Gruden quits and goes to Tampa Bay. Raiders make the SB and Gruden is sitting there smiling with the Raider playbook wide open. How crappy is that to face your former coach the following year in the mother f-ing Super Bowl? Even if they implemented an entirely new system, he knows who to key on, what they're doing, and when to show what looks.

Gruden didn't quit though. AL traded him to the Bucs. I don't remember what the compensation was though. There were some dark days after the tuck rule game, then getting killed in the super bowl and then the damn patriots taking off like they did. I'm just glad the team is respectable again.
