It would've been nice if we would've at least been in the top 10.

RE: Hustle Belt Hot Seats--LOL
I laughed loud at the Nebraska write-up.

"Nebraska:

It’s Mike Riley’s second year at Nebraska, so he’ll be gone by the time 2017 rolls around. Fleck would feel right at home with the unrealistic expectations of the fans and the fluky conference wins that the program’s had recently. If he can get kids to go to Kalamazoo, he can definitely can bring them to Lincoln to get a degree in corn engineering."

I'm surprised that Purdue isn't on the list.

I think writer was just going for the laughs, couldn't think of anything humorous about Fleck to PU.

Also got USC's coach's name wrong.

Very true, I think Indiana is about the only legit school on the list for PJ, but we just might be surprised.

Nope. He's going to be with us forever and ever. He's loyal to us, he'll never leave us. :)

If he leaves next year our program takes quite a few steps backwards immediately... I would also expect much of the talent that is young following him too... top half of his 2015 and 16 class... As much as the Fleck haters want him gone.... much needs to be understood of how that will impact our program from top to bottom... program would take a hit.

I'm okay with it, want him gone before our program gets in trouble. And actually, no understanding needs to be done, it's not in our hands. He wins, p5 money comes waving under his nose, and he's gone. Sure as the day is long in June.

Not necessarily.

It depends how he leaves, who he takes with him, and who is hired in his place.

In the last decade or so NIU, BGSU, UT and CMU have all hired new coaches who took over successful programs and were able to sustain them for several years. The ADs hired assistant coaches who had been part of the success and kept it moving forward. The players bought in.

Where the problems have come is when the ADs decide to make a clean break away from the established program and hire an outsider who proceeds to tear-down and rebuild (see Enos 2010, a WTF? hire). Sometimes that is necessary, but I doubt it will be if Fleck leaves after this season.

Will WMU take a step back if Fleck leaves? Probably, but I would not expect it to be a precipitous one.

You are 100 percent correct, Major.

In this day-and-age, it is naive to think ANY G5 coach is going to stay when wads of cash are waved under their nose.

Even Bonamego, despite his empty claims to never want to leave Mount Pleasant, will be gone if he gets the opportunity in several years.

Do you leave with the $, or stay and get eventually fired? Look at what LSU fans want to do to Les Miles!? Mmmm....

Coaching is a tough way to make a buck, so make it while you can.

The immediate issue is recruiting. With PJ as resident football god in Kazoo, potential recruits may be hesitant about getting aboard if the Head Rower is being rumored to be leaving. He's asking kids to be all in while he is looking to get all out. Not a good combo.

Welcome to college athletics where there is always a "bigger fish."

Any young man or woman who commits to any school, for any sport, based on primarily the coach, is foolish. Too many coaching changes, even at the P5 level. The student-athletes are, unfortunately, a small consideration to most D-I schools.

First-thing-is-first: "Would you be comfortable getting your education at this school if you were unable to play your sport?"

If yes, proceed. If no, look elsewhere.

I would like to think Western Michigan University sold a lot of these kids as much, if not more, than PJ Fleck. Maybe that is naive thinking on my part, but there are many, many positive things going on in Kalamazoo these days.
