RE: FedEx and ineffective spending
I wouldn't expect them to put equal (or close to equal) money in education vs marketing.

Marketing (ie FedExField, FedExForum, B12) is all about keeping their brand visible and on top of mind of their potential customers.

Education benefits them from a goodwill standpoint and hopefully having a good professional field to pull from.

some of these city education departments are the most bloated & inept run agency's ever. check out what some of their administrators & teachers make and look at their results. it's very sad.

if you gave them $50 million it wouldn't be enough. it's never enough!

Public school teachers get paid pretty terribly. While most white collar employees get to raid a supply closet, most teachers dont have that luxury, hence all the donations for supplies. The reason the teacher initiative exists in the first place is high teacher turnover. That turnover doesnt exist with higher pay.

Evict teachers from that statement. It's horse$h!t. And Ive volunteered in two separate districts in two separate regions to bridge the asset deficiencies to retain quality teachers, keep them from leaving for empty sales jobs. Thankfully in Memphis there are several initiatives to assist them. Administrators fine. Unions fine. B!tch about and politicize those areas.

Teachers? Bull $hit. They are not paid what they deserve to remain teachers. Not in public schools, not the salaries Ive seen. Pay them adequately and with greater retention remove tenure where it exists. But pay them more.
