Should be nice as long as those storms don't sit in the area too long and do actually move out before kickoff.

I hope Maine signed a contract whereby they will not go home if the game is delayed/postponed due to bad weather. Last year would have been an 11 win season if that clause existed in the opening game contract.

Did the forecast change since the 5th which called for thunderstorms ending in the afternoon?

Not as yet. Still a few days out, though.

I believe the rule was changed for for 2016 specifically to avoid a situation where the two ADs can't agree. Given the new rules a situation like ours from last year would have been avoided and the contest would have been declared a UT win when the ADs didn't agree and the decision defaulted to the home team conference (MAC) rules.

http://www.ncaa.com/news/football/articl...016-season

"Outcome of a Suspended Game
It is not uncommon for a game to be suspended because of weather or other unusual conditions. In the case of a weather delay, typically the game can be resumed after a delay when the weather clears. For those rare occasions where the game cannot be resumed, the rules provide four options: (1) resume at a later date; (2) end the game with a determined final score; (3) forfeit; or (4) declare no contest.

If the teams are in the same conference, conference policy dictates the outcome. However, if the teams are in different conferences, the current rule requires that the athletics directors of the teams agree on an outcome. Until this year the rules were silent on what happens if the two ADs can't agree. The 2016 change says that in this event, the policy of the home team's conference is used to determine the outcome."

Actually Toledo did.........
Toledo wanted to resume the next day (Friday) at Noon but Stony Brook said "NO"
Stony Brook didn't want to give up their charter plane they had for that night and ride buses back to Long Island.
Stony Brook was the one's to call it a "no contest" after they were getting beat soundly.....

I wouldn't call a 9 point half time deficit "getting bead soundly." I can't blame their AD for not wanting to concede a loss.

And Stony Brook didn't want to give up their charter flight because then they would have had to drive 10 hrs back to Stony Brook. Why would they want to stay an extra night and have to drive back home after they would have lost a game?

Stony Brook was able to get paid and not have to suffer a loss. It was a win-win for them. For the Rockets, it provided UT with a unknown status that helped the Rockets beat Arkansas.

RE: Saturday's Weather
It's noon. Most, if not all of the rain, is out of Toledo. I think that's about it. Just a few stray showers around in the afternoon. The weather forecasters were off on this. They were talking about lots of rain for the BG game at 3, now it looks like nothing. Damn.

RE: Saturday's Weather
It's sunny now, but there's another front back near Ft. Wayne. That will take maybe 1.5 - 2 hours to get here. It very well could fall apart as DR said. It's hard to tell, though.

2:18 Raining again. Not hard, but it's comin' down. A band that kind of emerged up out of nowhere.
The heavier front is just getting to the state line. Looks like we'll have a couple narrow bands come through and maybe that will be about it.

They just needed to stay for a couple of more hours. The issue was the chartered flight had to get back although I still they could have worked that out. They would have had about enough time to get back shower and head to class - or likely to bed which is what they probably did anyway.

FWIW, Miami's game against Eastern Illinois has been delayed. It was supposed to start at 3:30 Eastern in Oxford. I assume that's weather related.
